Head of Advocacy & Communications

Role & Responsibilities:

People & Stakeholder Management, Team Leadership:

  • Lead cross-functional projects and manage relationships with Fundraising & Partnerships, Programs & Services, IT, Centre, and general management to support internal and external communications for BCF campaigns and events.
  • Manage internal (management and committee) and external stakeholders including Health Promotion Board, corporate partners, sponsors, volunteers, and partnering agencies to achieve BCF’s objectives.
  • Identify competency gaps, build teams, and establish project management workflows and best practices.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to core functional teams (Digital & Performance Marketing, PR & Communications, Design & Content, Outreach & Events).
  • Mentor and guide interns; facilitate organization-wide cross-functional training and development.

Marketing Campaigns Management:

  • Champion integrated campaigns across paid, owned, and earned media (print, online, social media, broadcast, outdoor) and partner databases to increase breast cancer awareness and promote early detection.
  • Oversee the development and management of integrated campaign and communications plans based on a master calendar.
  • Create campaign toolkits, review program mechanics, and ensure consistent, branded experiences.
  • Measure campaign performance, focusing on reach, frequency, ROI, conversions, and impact reporting.

Advocacy:

  • Strategize organization-wide advocacy efforts, particularly during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), supporting signature events and key activities.
  • Grow a network of advocate speakers and survivor sharers; onboard volunteer medical speakers and align content requirements.
  • Train BCF advocates to effectively share their stories; prepare tools for impactful survivor sharing.

Creatives, Content Strategy & Public Relations:

  • Develop content strategy, messaging pillars, and editorial calendar; plan and promote advocacy content across multiple platforms.
  • Manage media materials, including key messages, press statements, speeches, and FAQs; oversee press events and conferences.
  • Monitor PR coverage and maintain media and KOL contacts; manage reputation and employer branding across social and traditional platforms.
  • Lead brand IP strategy and management, ensuring guidelines for brand elements in collaborations.

Digital, Social & Performance Marketing:

  • Lead digital presence design and maintenance aligned with content strategy and SEO principles.
  • Utilize paid and owned channels strategically to amplify content and engage audiences; manage digital accounts and diversify channel mix.
  • Develop performance measurement frameworks for ROI evaluation and dashboard reporting; apply conversion funnel strategies based on user journeys.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption for digital transformation; provide thought leadership on martech tools.

Sponsorships and Partnerships:

  • Utilize professional network to negotiate vendor/partner agreements; collaborate with fundraising team on engagement strategies.
  • Secure sponsorships and partnerships to support BCF advocacy efforts; collaborate with industry partners to advance BCF’s mission.
  • Spearhead partnerships for joint execution of BCF events/activities involving members/employees.

Others:

  • Plan, manage, and review functional area budgets and P&L; provide input on talent resource management and general operations.
  • Set and review ROIs; optimize brand assets, marketing collaterals, and digital assets.
  • Conduct breast cancer awareness talks; stay updated on breast cancer trends, technology, and media landscape.
  • Support cross-functional team projects and national healthcare initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Tertiary-educated and/or with at least 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • In-depth understanding and commercial practice of integrated marketing and corporate communications, encompassing media, brand management, project launches, events, program mechanics, and both traditional and digital media/marketing channels (e.g., Google, Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube), with awareness of emerging platforms.
  • Experienced in managing teams, stakeholders, and agency/commercial partners with a history of positive feedback.
  • Proven track record in robust project management for resource allocation, results tracking, and performance optimization.
  • Knowledgeable about martech tools, CMS, and CRM software, proficient in digital and social analytics, and skilled in keyword competitive analysis tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Adwords, Ahrefs, Semrush, Moz), as well as platforms like Hubspot, Mailchimp, and Hootsuite/SproutSocial. Familiarity with ad serving tools and data visualization/reporting tools such as Tableau is a plus.
  • Possesses design thinking skills with a systems approach.
  • Proficient in spoken and written English; effectively bilingual with a good command of a second language, additional languages a plus.
  • Background in relevant industries or non-profit sectors is advantageous.
