We are representing our client in the Oil & Gas space in hiring for a Demurrage & Claims Executive.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the handling of oil trading contract claims, including calculation, analysis, and proposing viable solutions to the trading team.
- Communicate and negotiate with suppliers' counterparties regarding claims, aiming to maximize receivables and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes for payables.
- Manage open demurrage claims, monitor increasing volumes, address potential aging claims proactively, and collaborate with relevant business units to track and resolve claims.
- Identify potential exposures and report to traders and shipping team leads on pending claims that could negatively impact the company.
- Prepare and submit monthly trading demurrage reports.
- Address and respond to all ad-hoc demurrage inquiries and reports from the head office.
- Maintain strong relationships with counterparts to uphold the company's market reputation and facilitate smoother negotiations and claim settlements.
- Work closely with trading operators and maintain healthy interdepartmental relationships.
- Collaborate with other demurrage claims colleagues and provide mutual support as needed.
- Perform additional administrative tasks as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in maritime studies, shipping, logistics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Mandarin to converse with Mandarin speaking counterparts.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in the oil shipping or oil trading industry.
- Solid understanding of contracts (incoterms FOB, CIF, DES), charter parties, and key lay-time and demurrage provisions.
- Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness.
- Excellent verbal and written negotiation skills.
