Morgan McKinley seeks a Fiber Optic Tester (Field Engineer Lead) to oversee testing and validating optical fiber connectivity using various apparatus (OTDR, CD/PMD, Optical Insertion Loss measurements). The role includes performing site surveys and maintaining project schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain project schedules.
- Conduct fiber characterization tests with OTDR, CD/PMD, power meter/laser source and fiber end face testing using industry standard test equipment
- Perform fiber splicing and cleaning.
- Analyze vendor's fiber network test data.
- Prepare and manage testing documentation and reports.
- Interface with vendors for issue remediation.
- Conduct site surveys to validate infrastructure deliverables including issues such as:
- Fiber type
- Points of failure
- Diversity requirements
- Framework and support infrastructure (racks, fiber protection, grounding etc)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of Telecom Network Infrastructure experience.
- Proficient in any generic office software.
- Strong experience with OTDR traces, OIL data, and CD/PMD data analysis.
- Knowledgeable about various fiber types and network structures.
- Familiar with EXFO Toolbox or similar software.
- Experience with understanding vendor contractual deliverables
- Experience in project management or support is an asset.
- Willingness to travel frequently (80% travel required).
