This opportunity is in the well-regarded LNG Middle Office team based in Singapore.
The successful candidate will be involved across a full range of aspects of the LNG Middle Office team’s activities:
· Daily Economic Valuation/Exposures/Attribution reporting of all open exposure; Monthly IFRS compliant reporting for the LNG Trading desk;
· Supporting the Team Lead with facilitating the operational readiness of new products for the LNG Trading desk;
· Continuous improvements to the Middle Office processes;
· Ability to independently develop analysis tools and reports; conduct valuation and exposure analysis on new structured transactions.
. Identifying gaps within the control suite operated by the LNG Middle Office team, and proactive generating measures to address these.
· Ensure transparency and accountability of control failures within the DLC which have impact on the LNG Middle Office team, and identifying measures to ensure the function remains a centre for excellence.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Reporting & Control: Daily P&L reporting, exposure reporting and full attribution of any daily changes.
- Monthly IFRS compliant revaluations, and full explanation and understanding of any valuation differences.
- Ensure full understanding of the rationale behind all open positions held by the LNG desk.
- Support the monthly LNG IPV processes.
- Support the LNG desk monthly reporting processes.
- Create and prepare periodic and ad-hoc valuation reports for senior management (weekly and monthly valuation reporting, IFRS Risks analysis, Economic vs IFRS valuation differences).
- Conduct any ad-hoc/one-off portfolio analysis upon both the LNG Front Office or any other Support Function requests with regard to both the economic and IFRS valuation impact of a new commercial transactions/hedging strategy.
- Develop, implement and maintain the Middle Office reporting framework within the SEFE M&T policies, supporting the development of these policies as necessary.
- Contribute to the continued improvement of the LNG ETRM.
- Contribto the improvement and expansion of daily reporting capabilities.
Skills & Competencies
- Sound knowledge of Middle Office best practices across the Deal Lifecycle, with experience in policy and documentation generation and commodity valuations.
- Conduct high-calibre deliveries in a timely manner in a fast-growing working environment; foster feasible albeit robust solution to problems within the imparted timeline.
- Manage stakeholder’s expectations, particularly to develop and maintain trust and close partnership with both the Singapore and London Front Office teams, and other Support Functions.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts in a simple and immediately understandable way tailored to the audience.
- Very good analytical skills to review/assess a standalone complex structured transaction and/or a large trading portfolio.
- Strong logical problem solving skills.
- Ability to analyse discrepancies between datasets and identify the route causes.
- Be a high-calibre performer with a proven track record of significant deliveries through innovative thinking.
Experience
- Prior experience in a Middle Office role and environment dealing with reporting, P&L attribution and controls development.
- Good understanding of the energy commodity market, with prior expertise in one or more physical asset in this list is preferred; LNG, Oil, LPG, Metals or Natural Gas
- Experience of non-linear products is not essential but is useful.
- Excellent Excel skills; experience in VBA/SQL or any other programming language is a preferential.
- Prior experience of Openlink Endur ETRM system is preferred.
- Prior experience with Veson IMOS is advantageous but not essential.
Education
Degree level qualification or equivalent experience, with degree qualification preferably in a subject with mathematical or economics component.
