Job Description & Requirements
- Reviews tender documents/requests for proposals to understand project details and requirements.
- Reviews and interprets engineering documentation such as drawings/specifications/scope of works to fully understand the project requirements for detailed and accurate estimating.
- Provides detailed and accurate quantity and component take-offs against the technical drawings, specifications and scope of work documentation.
- Provides timely clarifications for ongoing submission within the tender/RFP duration.
- Ensures the flow of bid project information is maintained and documented.
- Provides current and competitive industry schedule of rates against the take-offs.
- Validates and Creates BOM rates by using first principle build ups.
- Communicates and negotiates competitive rates with Suppliers and Sub-contractors.
- Provides costing data and input into the proposal formats required by the tender documentation.
- Collates and checks tender bids against estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Works within the Estimating Team, reporting to the Senior Estimating Manager or Project Manager.
- Coordinates with other Discipline Estimators and Engineers.
- Acts as a mentor to other Junior Estimators / Members of the Team.
- Maintains Company Pricing Databases
- Provides support to other team members with regards to estimating and tendering.
- Coordinates between other disciplines such as the Engineering, Procurement and Commercial departments both at GBU and RBU level to close estimating scope gaps
- Adheres to Corporate Policies and Guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Relevant Discipline or Equivalent
- 5 years Mechanical Cost Estimating Experience
- Prior Mechanical Cost Estimating Experience in the Construction Industry.
- Prior Advanced Technology Projects Cost Estimating Experience (desirable but not mandatory).
- Proficient in supporting medium to large scale projects.
- Estimating mechanical works such as ACMV system, heating, ventilation, plumbing, and air conditioning equipment and other service facilities (including ductwork).
- Estimating Mechanical works for industrial Projects (Desirable but not mandatory)
- Use of typical estimating software (desirable)
- Use of "Take-Off’ Software (desirable)
- Proficient in the ability to work with engineering drawings and specifications
- Microsoft Excel
- Autocad
- First Principle Pricing
- Cost Planning
- Proficient in preparing, co-ordination and consolidation of all estimating activities.
