Senior Calibration Engineer (Electrical / Temperature / Mechanical / Dimensional / Radio Frequency)

Job Summary:


The Senior Calibration Engineer is responsible for overseeing and executing calibration activities, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement instruments and equipment. This role involves leading calibration projects, providing technical guidance, developing calibration procedures, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The Senior Calibration Engineer also mentors junior engineers and technicians, contributing to the overall growth and development of the calibration team.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Calibration Management:

- Oversee and perform calibration on a wide range of measurement instruments and equipment.

- Develop and implement calibration procedures and protocols to ensure accuracy and compliance.

- Ensure all calibration activities are documented and records are maintained accurately.


2. Technical Leadership:

- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.

- Lead troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts for complex calibration issues.

- Stay updated with the latest calibration technologies and methodologies.


3. Quality Assurance:

- Ensure all calibration activities comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

- Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits as required.

- Implement corrective actions to address any non-conformities identified during audits.


4. Project Management:

- Lead calibration projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring.

- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines and objectives are met.

- Prepare and present project reports and updates to management.


5. Training and Development:

- Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians on calibration processes and best practices.

- Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for the calibration team.

- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the team.


6. Client Interaction:

- Collaborate with clients to understand their calibration needs and provide tailored solutions.

- Conduct client visits to perform on-site calibrations and provide technical support.

- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and address any client concerns promptly.


7. Equipment and Inventory Management:

- Ensure all calibration equipment is maintained and calibrated regularly.

- Manage the inventory of calibration tools and equipment, ensuring proper stock levels.

- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for the procurement of calibration equipment.


8. Compliance and Safety:

- Ensure all calibration activities adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.

- Identify and address potential safety hazards in the calibration process.

- Participate in safety training and ensure the calibration team follows safety procedures.


Qualifications:


- Education:

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, metrology, physics, or a related field.

- Advanced degree or professional certification in calibration or metrology is preferred.


- Experience:

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in calibration or a related field.

- Proven track record of managing calibration projects and leading technical teams.


- Skills:

- In-depth knowledge of calibration processes, standards, and equipment.

- Strong technical and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent leadership and mentoring abilities.

- Proficiency in calibration software and tools.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.


Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift and move calibration equipment.

- Ability to work in various environmental conditions.

- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.


Work Environment:

- Laboratory or workshop setting with occasional fieldwork.

- Interaction with clients, technical teams, and management.

- Fast-paced environment with a focus on precision and accuracy.
