Job Summary

The Financing & Securities Services (FSS) business has a unique footprint in Asia, Middle East, and Africa, and offers a growing range of products, including direct custody, international custody, funds services, trustee services, transfer agency, prime services, and agency securities lending, to several client sectors including banks, investors, intermediaries, sovereigns, fund managers insurance companies and corporates.

The jobholder is part of the Global Funds & Fiduciary products team, responsible for (i) enabling a competitive product suite that will grow and retain the existing book of business; (ii) developing new products and services to respond to market changes and generate new revenue streams and (iii) to ensure those are done within a controlled and compliant environment. The team is also responsible for the end-to-end proposition to clients, specifically Investors/Insurance, and in line with the target operating and technical delivery model of the Bank.

Core Funds & Fiduciary products are:

· Fund administration and accounting services

· Transfer Agency and Performance Measurement services

· Middle Office services

· Trustee & Fiduciary services

The jobholder will be required to:

· Work collaboratively with members of the FSS, Financial Markets (FM), and Client Coverage (CC) to ensure cross-product, cross-business opportunities are realised

· Work collaboratively with support functions (operations, technology, etc) ensuring products and solutions are developed and delivered as per plan and are pervasive

· Create visibility for FSS through participation in conferences and industry events

Key Responsibilities

Strategy

· Contributes to the formulation or realignment of strategy for the business

· Captures these developments in order to further contribute to the strategic outlook and delivery in line with enhanced requirements

· Identifies and propose new initiatives to global product head for investment approvals

· Ensure annual plans are in line with the strategic intent and client requirements

· Work closely with Custody & Clearing team to ensure alignment and efficient delivery of the overall securities services offering

· Ensures the fund and fiduciary products and solutions can be delivered in an efficient, scalable, and sustainable business an operating model

· Awareness of market trends, regulatory changes, digital and data innovation developments, and capitalizing on these where applicable in alignment with FSS strategy

· Thoughts-leadership on digitization and use of DLT in our product solutions

Business

· Provide product solutions & support to new geographies, complex deals or RFPs

· Understand intricacies of global Fund services global business, its scalability, automaton and commercial viability

Processes

· Responsible for end-to-end client proposition ensuring (i) alignment to strategy, and target operating model, and (ii) commercially viable for both clients and the Bank

· Improves on product commercial metrics including productivity metrics, ensuring improvements to overall products CIR/RoTE

· Partners with FM Operations and Technology to (i) transform, design and implement scalable, automated, and commercially viable operating model for the business, capable of adaptation to satisfy changing business and regulatory requirements; (ii) remediate identified areas

· Co-ordinates global product activity to minimise overlap and maximise sharing and re-use of solutions an ensuring pervasiveness of products across regions/countries

· Manages relationships with functions such as Risk, Credit, Compliance, Legal, Finance as they impact the evolution of the FSS product suite

· Support sales in identifying opportunities and executing sales plan for Investor/Insurance segment

Skills and Experience

Risk Management

· Takes responsibility for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating risks to the Group. Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual and the team play in managing them.

· Ensures all regulatory and compliance initiatives surrounding the product are identified, socialised and closed out in a timely and efficient fashion.

· Oversees consistent treatment and management of risks for fund and fiduciary products

Governance

· Maintains all appropriate products and governance documentation and approvals.

· Ensures compliance of the product suite with all regulatory and internal control requirements.

· Maintains awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.

· Ensures the sales process, commercials, and necessary governance are in place to govern the roll-out of the product.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

· Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

· Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

· Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Key stakeholders

  • Accountable for senior stakeholder management within the client groups; developing strong partnerships, proactive discovery of upcoming projects that impact the regional spend, while creating value by influencing stakeholders to make decisions when considering the wider business.
  • Key stakeholder interactions are with Business/Function Heads in the region and countries.

Our Ideal Candidate

· 10+ years of experience in the financial services sector with good understanding of fund services products and operations, and middle office services. Practitioner in the fund services industry with in-depth experience in Asset Management, Fund Administrator or Custodian

· Demonstrate strong knowledge of the securities market especially for Asia and Africa/Middle East markets

· Deep local market knowledge & client buying behaviors

· Experience in executing product strategies

· Market profile and credibility with clients

· Excellent communicator and presenter

· Results oriented, transformational mindset, energetic and dynamic

· Highly organised and able to work effectively in a matrix organisation
