Job Purpose:
The Commis/Demi Chef de Partie is responsible for assisting in the preparation of all food products in all kitchen sections, making them ready for in-house service or dispatching to delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Demi Chef de Partie during the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food that adheres to the restaurant’s recipes and standards.
- Prepare and cook food to the highest standards to ensure efficient food service.
- Ensure all food items prepared and served are according to established standards and practices.
- Follow all statutory hygiene and safety requirements.
- Know about the restaurant equipment and stock control and rotation procedures.
- Perform other duties pertinent to this job as assigned.
- Communicate professionally with the supervisor in charge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the kitchen brigade with daily tasks and food preparation.
- Follow recipes and instructions to ensure consistency and quality.
- Prepare and present high-quality dishes within the assigned section.
- Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in creating menu items, recipes, and developing dishes.
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, including Commis Chefs.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Ensure the kitchen operates in a timely manner that meets our quality standards.
- Monitor and manage stock levels and inventory.
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1-2 years of kitchen experience.
- Culinary school diploma or equivalent experience is a plus.
- Understands oral and written instructions in English.
- A passion for cooking and a desire to build a career in the culinary industry.
- Excellent cooking skills and knowledge of culinary techniques.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work under stress.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.
- Maintains all international standards of health guidelines for food preparation and safety.
- Passes all required job-related tests.
- Ability to perform manual labor.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Work involves moderate exposure to high temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
- Moderate physical activity, such as handling objects up to 25 kilograms and standing or walking for more than 6 hours per day.
- Work environment involves potential exposure to hazards or physical risks, which requires following basic safety precautions.
