Glencore Singapore Pte Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Glencore International Plc. and engages in commodity trading. The Singapore office employs approximately 220 staff working from a single site.
We are seeking a self-motivated, commercially oriented and driven individual with strong interpersonal skills who can demonstrate a sound understanding of credit risk assessment and management in the context of a commodities trading environment and in particular, physical oil trading and derivatives trading markets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate the creditworthiness and financial strength of trading counterparts in a broad range of sectors and Jurisdictions and determine appropriateness of credit limits.
- Analyse the risks inherent to trading activity across a range of physical and derivative transactions across the Oil department.
- Determine acceptable level of exposure, recommend credit limits, internal ratings and credit enhancement in compliance with internal procedures.
- Advise traders and originators on credit issues to forecast credit exposures and appropriate risk mitigant and manage the counterparty’s financial exposure
- Monitor and report exposure, where necessary, escalate breaches to management.
- Keep up to date with industry developments, participate in credit events and interact with industry peer.
- Perform adhoc analysis and research. Contribute to preparation of weekly and periodic report for distribution to management
- Monitor and maintain parent company guarantees, review and counter relevant contracts and agreements. Ensure the documentation is up to date
- Maintain counterparty records across a range of systems and assist with system development
- Coordinate with Front Office, Operations, Structured Finance, Trade Finance, Legal, and Compliance to ensure effective credit risk management
- Participate in a continuous improvement culture by evaluating existing processes and propose changes that enhance the productivity and strengthens internal controls.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Preferably someone with more than 5-7 years of credit experience and working with financial statements acquired in an oil company, commodities trading company or energy utility
- Degree educated with background in finance or accounting
- Solid understanding of energy, commodity markets and financial derivatives is a must
