Job Description
The SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (“SDGHI”) is an enabling platform for global health activities across the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (“AMC”). The Institute aims to address current and emerging health challenges across ASEAN member states and in other Asian countries. Working in collaboration with partners, SDGHI seeks to tackle prevalent health challenges, strengthen health systems and better insulate countries from pandemics and disease threats.
The Planetary Health Initiative is the newest strategic initiative of SDGHI which pertains to the integrated state of health of both people and the planet. It recognises that people’s health is now greatly shaped by human-driven global environmental change, such as climate change, environmental pollution, rapid urbanisation, biodiversity loss, among others. During the Initiative’s inaugural phase, the Institute will focus on launching initial educational and capacity-building activities, conducting landscape analysis of the current state of play especially at the regional level, exploring research collaborations with other planetary health-oriented groups within Singapore and beyond, and implementing initial policy influencing and advocacy activities – all geared towards positioning the Institute as an emerging thought leader in planetary health in Asia and beyond.
The selected candidate will perform a variety of research activities which include planning, organising, and conducting research studies under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following:
- Perform tasks and support all aspects related to the research project.
- Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting, and reporting of research activities and findings
- Assist researchers in programming, data analysis and literature review in various research projects.
- Contribute to project management, presentations, and publications of research work.
- Assist with the general upkeep of research needs, maintain protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.
- Contribute to the development of new research projects/proposals.
- Perform other related duties to the work described therein (eg. capacity building, education, advocacy, dissemination activities, etc.).
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with an aptitude for research with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Entry level candidates may also be considered.
- Possess scientific background knowledge in health/global health or related disciplines
- Possess strong interpersonal communications skills with excellent written, oral and computer skills.
- A strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
