Civil Engineer

As a Civil Engineer specializing in road construction, you will play a crucial role in designing, planning, and overseeing road and highway construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, and other engineers to ensure that roadways are constructed to meet safety standards, functional requirements, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Design:Develop detailed designs and plans for road construction projects, including layout, grading, drainage, and pavement structure.
   Utilize engineering software and tools to create and review design models and simulations.
   Conduct site assessments to gather data and evaluate site conditions.
   
2. Project Management:Oversee the construction process, ensuring that work is completed on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
   Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
   Monitor project progress, address any issues or delays, and implement corrective actions as needed.
   
3. Compliance and Safety:Ensure that all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
   Conduct inspections and audits to verify that construction practices adhere to design specifications and safety protocols.
   
4. Technical Support:Provide technical guidance and support to construction teams and other stakeholders.
   Review and approve construction plans, material specifications, and engineering calculations.
   
5. Documentation and Reporting:Maintain accurate records of project progress, including changes, delays, and financial expenditures.
   Prepare and present reports to management and stakeholders on project status, issues, and performance metrics.
   
6. Problem Solving:Address and resolve technical and operational challenges that arise during the construction process.
   Collaborate with other engineers and professionals to find innovative solutions to complex issues.
   

Requirements:

1. Education:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or additional certifications in road construction or transportation engineering is a plus.
   
2. Experience:Proven experience (typically 3-5 years) in road construction or a related field.
   Experience with project management and construction site supervision.
   
3. Licenses and Certifications:Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
   Additional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or certifications in road design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) are advantageous.
   
4. Skills:Strong proficiency in engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.).
   Excellent knowledge of road construction materials, methods, and best practices.
   Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
   Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
   
5. Other Qualifications:Familiarity with local, state, and federal road construction regulations and standards.
   Ability to work in diverse environmental conditions and on varying terrains.
   Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
   

Working Conditions:

• Work may be conducted both in an office environment and on construction sites.
• The role may require travel to project sites, occasional overtime, and work in varying weather conditions.
