Junior Legal Counsel

Our client is a global leader in post-trade services and securities processing. They aim to deliver innovative, efficient, and secure solutions for financial market infrastructure. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team in Singapore.

Role Overview:

As a Junior Legal Counsel, you will provide legal support on regulatory matters, particularly focusing on Singapore and Australian regulatory environments. You will work closely with the Senior Regulatory Legal Counsel and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws. This role is ideal for someone with up to 4 years of experience in legal roles, particularly with exposure to Australian financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in interpreting and applying regulatory requirements for both Singapore and Australia. Ensure the company’s operations comply with relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Conduct research on regulatory developments and provide analysis to support business decisions.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, such as the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) and Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), as well as internal stakeholders to address regulatory issues.
• Prepare and review legal documents, contracts, and reports. Ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Provide legal advice on various aspects of regulatory compliance, including financial regulations, securities laws, and industry best practices.
• Assist the Senior Regulatory Legal Counsel in managing regulatory inquiries, audits, and compliance projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Law. Admission to practice law in Singapore or Australia is preferred.
• Up to 4 years of legal experience (>4PQE) with a focus on regulatory matters, ideally involving both Singapore and Australian regulations. Experience working with Australian multinational corporations or financial institutions is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with regulatory bodies such as the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) and Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly. Proficiency in legal research and document preparation.
• Proficiency in English is required. Additional language skills are a plus but not essential.
