Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow position in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

The Department of Diagnostic Imaging (DDI) is the clinical service department in the National University Hospital (NUH). With the formation of the National University Health System (NUHS), both clinical and academic departments come under a common governing structure. NUHS was incorporated on 23 January 2008 to integrate education, research and clinical care.

Purpose of the post

The PI lab aims to develop in vitro diagnostics, in vivo imaging and nanobiotechnology with emphasis on molecular imaging tools and drug and gene delivery techniques. The Visiting Fellows will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and the team members to undertake independent and/or collaborative research and to lead on aspects of research strategy within the lab.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. (preferably in biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, life sciences, radiology or biomedical engineering), with previous experience in designing research projects. A detailed knowledge of molecular imaging probes and/or nanomedicine is mandatory. Ability to design and perform scientific work independently and collaboratively is a must, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience with chemistry and radiochemistry, cell culture, animal handling, small animal imaging, and translational research is highly preferred but not required. Motivation and drive to work hard and learn new skills are most important.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Independently undertake advanced research in the relevant discipline area using, or developing, the appropriate methods and/or techniques;
  2. Lead and promote activities designed to develop collaborative research with research colleagues and support staff internally and to actively develop appropriate external contacts and networks relevant future collaboration and funding opportunities; Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;
  3. Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
