Job Description
The Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM) is seeking a senior research fellow in the area of computational chemistry. The job responsibilities include:
- Apply computational chemistry methods for the prediction of molecular spectroscopy analysis
- Develop new modelling methods as informed by required performance
- Prepare regular reports/seminars/tutorials for stakeholders
- Assist with grant writing and publication of original workshops
- Develop a research profile through conferences and seminars
- Develop relationships with local and international collaborators
Job Requirements
- PhD in computational chemistry or related discipline
- Generally with 3 or more years' postdoctoral research experience, as well as a demonstrated capability to achieve research excellence and develop research programmes and funding proposals, through in-depth knowledge, skills and expertise
- Experience in supervising or mentoring others and/or coordinating a research team
- Primary research interesting in applying computational chemistry methods as a predictive tool, primarily DFT
- Proven research excellence in this area of computational chemistry modelling
- Demonstrated evidence of independent research ability and output
- Experience in preparation of papers and presentation of seminars
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience interacting with a variety of researchers and stakeholders
- Experience with a computational chemistry package is a must, with Psi4 and Gaussian is a bonus
- Experience with molecular mechanical modelling is a bonus
