Job Description
The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Associate position in the Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The programme focuses on basic, clinical and transformative research to add healthy year of life by developing interventions to delay ageing and chronic disease onset, increase healthspan and improve life quality.
Appointments will be on a 1-year contract in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
Purpose of the post
The successful candidate will combine their research skills with scientific outreach, event organization and business development for the Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme. He/she should possess both research and transferrable skills which enable her to provide a wide range of support to the Programme. The candidate will support our interdisciplinary research projects in the areas of digital and public health as well as lead the development and implementation of the Programme’s science communication strategies.
The Programme offers an enriching environment for individuals with a scientific background to develop a career path beyond traditional lab-based options. You will be working closely with scientists and clinicians to promote healthy lifespan through research, innovation, partnerships, public education and many more.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Research Associate will be able to:
- Provide research support to the ongoing and upcoming interdisciplinary research projects in the areas of digital and public health.
- Support research project management, from literature review, grant applications, research contract preparations, procurement of consumables and services, as well as the preparation of grant reports.
- Support existing Core Facilities in their operations and assist in setting up new Core Facilities for the Programme as required.
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and trend analysis to identify emerging opportunities; assess competitive threats and recommend strategic decision-making for the Programme Core Research Facilities.
- Secretariate virtual and physical meetings between the Programme senior leaders and research partners.
- Develop and negotiate mutually beneficial agreements for research collaborations, technology transfer, and commercialization of the Programme innovations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Organize and participate in public outreach events (both physically and virtually), including securing event venues, procurement, liaise with speakers and participants, conduct post-event surveys and do the necessary follow-up.
- Coordinate academic visits and support other programme members in organizing their events.
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for scientific outreach and communication initiatives to engage diverse audiences.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of scientific outreach initiatives and activities, collecting feedback and data, preparing reports or presentation slides to demonstrate outcomes and propose improvements.
- Serve as a point of contact between the Program and the public through emails and social media.
- Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Preferably a Master degree in health sciences or related disciplines.
- Experience in conducting research surveys and analysing quantitative/qualitative data.
- Knowledge in budget management and procurement systems is a plus.
- Excellent presentation skills with an ability to understand and communicate complex science to various groups of audience.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Great interpersonal skills with ability to manage various stakeholders in both public and private sectors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, Social media and other communication platforms.
- A great team player who is able to work independently when required.
- A strong sense of responsibility and integrity.
- Passion in healthy longevity science and innovation.
