Position Overview
SAMSUNG SDS, at the forefront of digital logistics innovation, is seeking the Ocean Pricing/Procurement Expert to enhance the business development/expansion of the South East Asia incl. Oceania region based on the strong relationship built with market leading shipping lines. This crucial role is centered around leveraging relationships with shipping lines to negotiate the lowest market rates for ocean freight, instrumental in driving the development of our logistics business in Singapore and expanding our customer base across Southeast Asia. You will play a key role in building our regional/global procurement strategy, directly contributing to our growth and presence in one of the most vibrant markets globally.
Job Description:
- Strategically negotiate and secure competitive ocean freight rates from shipping lines, focusing on cost efficiency and service reliability
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with shipping lines at a Regional and Global Level, ensuring SAMSUNG SDS's access to the best market rates and terms
- Lead the procurement process, from sourcing to negotiation, with a keen focus on aligning costs with strategic business objectives
- Collaborate closely with the logistics and business development teams to identify new business opportunities and expand our customer base in Southeast Asia
- Analyze market trends and shipping line strategies to anticipate changes in freight rates and availability, adjusting procurement strategies accordingly
Job Requirement:
- At least 7 years of direct experience in direct procurement/sourcing from shipping lines/ Global Logistics company, with a proven track record of securing competitive rates and favorable terms
- Demonstrated ability to conduct negotiations at a regional/global level, with extensive knowledge of the shipping industry and market dynamics
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex data to inform purchasing decisions and business strategies
- Excellent relationship management skills, capable of building and maintaining strong connections with shipping lines and industry stakeholders
- Fluent in English, with outstanding communication and negotiation skills. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- Highly proactive and strategic thinker, with a strong business acumen and the ability to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities
