Job Description & Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements commercial strategies for optimal sales and purchases of crude oil, natural gas, petroleum products, biofuels, environmental/emissions credits, power, services and their related derivatives (including both system trading and for-profit trading strategies) in larger or more complex portfolios.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of market fundamentals, buying/selling positions, associated relevant regulations, and standard industry contracting practices.
- Develops and maintains relationships with market participants.
- Negotiates and executes short term sales and purchases of products and services consistent with commercial strategies.
- Ensures alignment with functions, and compliance with all relevant management systems and guidelines.
- Conducts derivatives activities.
- Identify and execute more complex optimization and trading opportunities, while ensuring supply/demand are in balance.
- Develops and implements for-profit trading strategies.
- Advises/coaches less experienced traders.
- Manages transactions and contracts, as needed, through entire supply cycle and document them in relevant system.
- Participates in commercial trading strategy development.
- Participates in, or supports, value chain optimization teams, as applicable.
- Evaluates and executes hedging strategies for commercial activities in close with Risk Control.
- Qualifies and quantifies risks related to own trading and commercial activities and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Manages financial risk with approved use of hedging strategies and derivatives.
Job Requirements:
- 5-10 years relevant experience as a commodity trader.
- Demonstrated track record of managing risk.
