Chugai Pharmabody Research Pte. Ltd. (“CPR”) was established in Singapore as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (Chugai), a member of Roche group, in January 2012 and started operations on July 2, 2012. Located at Biopolis in Singapore, it aims to generate new antibody drugs based on Chugai’s proprietary antibody engineering technologies, such as recycling antibody®, sweeping antibody®, bispecific antibody, various Fc engineered antibodies, cyclic peptides and other new antibody engineering technologies that are under development.
Position – Research Scientist in Mid-size Molecule Unit
CPR is seeking for a scientist with expertise in medicinal chemistry. You will leverage your passion and creativity to lead mid-size molecule projects through the identification of drug candidates, collaborating with other multi-disciplinary teams to achieve a milestone of a project. The candidate will play a key role to drive our innovative drug discovery projects and cutting-edge technology development through the fusion of chemistry and biotechnology.
Job requirements
The applicant should be highly skilled in at least one of the following areas:
- Strong and proven expertise in organic chemistry, including DNA/RNA synthesis and solid phase peptide synthesis.
- Strong and proven expertise in medicinal chemistry in the mid-size molecules or cutting-edge modality.
- Advance knowledge in chemical biology for protein structure and mode of action analysis.
- Expertise in analysis chemistry.
- Experience in leading a research team as a leader is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills to deal with large amounts of data and excellent communication and collaborative skills, as well as a team player mindset for working with cross-functional multi-disciplinary teams.
- Knowledge and skill of high-throughput system, automation system, and/or general scripting language is a plus but not a must.
- Knowledge and skill of development of cell free and/or cell assay system is a plus but not a must.
- Experience in managing relationships with collaborators is preferred.
The applicant must have completed and be awarded with a relevant master’s degree in Organic Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry/Biochemistry/Chemical Biology with 3-5+ years of working experience in related fields. In addition, the successful candidates must be able to demonstrate technical expertise in areas which may include peptide chemistry and nucleotide chemistry and as evidenced by projects, presentations, or peer-reviewed scientific publications.
As frequent communication and liaison is expected between both the Singapore and Japan office, you should possess an excellent command of both spoken and written Japanese and English languages.
