Job Summary:
The Financial Controller will play a critical role in managing the financial health of our company. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making. A key aspect of this role will be establishing and managing in-house loan operations, particularly in the hire purchase sector within the automotive industry. This includes setting up, managing and optimizing our hire purchase operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
Hire Purchase and In-House Loan Operations:
- Set up, manage and optimize hire purchase agreements and processes.
- Design and structure loan packages that meet both the company's and the customer's needs.
- Monitor hire purchase collections and ensure timely payments.
- Evaluate and process loan applications from customers.
- Analyze credit reports, financial statements, and other relevant documents to assess the creditworthiness of applicants.
- Approve or recommend approval of loans within established lending limits.
- Assess credit risk and make recommendations for credit terms and approvals.
Strategic Planning:
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Assist in the development of long-term business plans.
- Identify and analyze financial risks and opportunities.
Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Provide information to internal stakeholders, manage Company’s investment account and Boon Siew Building income.
- Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and develop the finance team of 2, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and support to team members as needed.
Cost Control:
- Monitor and control operational costs.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or performance.
Requirements:
- ACCA / Degree in Accounting or any relevant discipline
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a financial management role.
- Experience in the hire purchase sector is essential.
- Relevant experience in the automotive industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
