The School of Social Sciences is inviting applications for the position of Research Fellow. This position is part of the research team led by Associate Professor Francis Lim, for the project, “Modalities of Religious Populism in Asia: How Secularism Shapes Religion and Politics” (Funded by Singapore Ministry of Education AcRF Tier 2 Grant). The position is primarily research-based. The Research Fellow will be expected to conduct field research and supervise data collection. This position comes with funding for field research, data collection and research assistance. The contract period will be for 35 months maximum (full-time), starting as soon as possible.
The Research Fellow will work closely with the Principal Investigators (PI), co-PIs and Collaborators in tasks related to the research project.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct literature reviews on relevant research domains;
· Assist in preparation of interview protocols, surveys and other research measurements;
· Conduct field research and data collection in certain Asian countries;
· Assist in data analysis;
· Prepare progress reports, presentations, conference and journal papers, book manuscript as well as other research related documents;
· Present research findings at seminars, workshops and conferences.
Job Requirements
· A PhD in Sociology, Politics, or any other related disciplines in the social sciences.
· Research expertise in religion and politics in Asia.
· Candidates with skills in quantitative (particularly survey design) research methods will be considered favourably.
· A promising publication record.
· Excellent communication skills in speaking and writing.
