M&A Underwriting Assistant

Beazley Pte. Limited

Job Summary:

  • To provide underwriting assistance support to the Mergers & Acquisitions (“M&A”) team and ensure that the administrative processes are run as efficiently as possible to serve both internal and external clients.
  • To assist underwriters on M&A insurance business.



Key Responsibilities:


Pre-Underwriting

  • Manage the mergers and acquisition inbox by sorting, filing and actioning as required
  • Complete the daily submission tracker which includes summarising information from emails, inputting the key information into excel (noted this needs to be comprehended and key points pulled from correspondence and is not just copy / paste of data), and communicating with the underwriters the submission tasks to be completed for the day
  • Assist underwriting assistants with the review and signing of non-disclosure agreements when submissions of deals are received from brokers.
  • Once more experienced in the role, assist underwriters with reading through deal submissions and supporting documents, including share purchase agreements, information memorandums etc and then where appropriate, assist with the preparation of non-binding indications of Beazley M&A insurance terms.
  • Drafting expense agreements for those deals we are selected to write primary.

Underwriting Support

  • When in underwriting assist underwriters with the review and signing of deal hold harmless letters.
  • Assist underwriters on various tasks on deals including setting up data room access for Beazley and legal counsel, taking notes on underwriter calls, sanctions checks, looking for documents in the data room etc.
  • Support the underwriters in the delivery of an effective and efficient service.
  • May be required to prepare and provide statistics and information in order to serve the requirements of the underwriters and clients.
  • Produce ad hoc reports for the underwriters and other members of staff when requested.
  • Interact with the underwriting support functions, ie claims, risk, compliance, to source information when necessary.

Broker/Client Interaction

  • Liaise with brokers and other key partners pre-underwriting on the review and signing of NDAs and during underwriting.
  • Respond to client queries in an accurate and timely fashion to develop the brand image of Beazley.
  • Provide a professional service to brokers in person, by email and on the telephone.

General

  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as may be requested by the underwriting team.
  • Participate in cross-team and intra-team projects as required.
  • Share knowledge with the underwriting community and the Beazley network to ensure dissemination of best practice.
  • Assist with the production of presentations and marketing literature as required.

  • Comply with any specific responsibilities necessary for your role as outlined by your line manager, the Talent Management or assurance teams (compliance, risk, internal audit) and ensure you keep up to date with developments in these areas. This may include, amongst others, Beazley’s underwriting control standards, Beazley’s claims control standards, other Beazley standards and customer relationship management.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups.



Personal Specification:


Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree education – strong emphasis on written comprehension

Skills and Abilities

  • Administrative Experience
  • Strong computer skills – Intermediate Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to manage own time, meet deadlines and prioritise work

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experienced underwriting assistance or analyst with minimum 6 months working at a corporate organisation
