What we are looking for:
We are looking for a talented young professional to join the Fundamental Investment team at Marshall Wace with the aim of further developing their analytical skills and gaining investment experience. The Analyst will be placed into the Developing Consumer team so that they may develop an in-depth understanding of the specific team’s investment approach.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and execute investment strategies for a fundamental Long/Short portfolio;
- Deploy and manage portfolio capital to generate attractive risk adjusted returns within defined risk limits;
- Develop both a bottom up and top-down investment framework;
- Implement a robust process to generate original, idiosyncratic and uncorrelated investment ideas supported by detailed financial modelling and proprietary research;
- Understand and utilize the Marshall Wace scaled proprietary trading and execution system;
- Utilize alternative data to inform investment decisions, where appropriate;
Requirements:
- Excellent academic credentials
- Experience in the Japan consumer sector
- Between 1-4 years of relevant working experience
- Advanced understanding of accounting and financial statements with the ability to identify key drivers of business and industry performance as well as the ability to understand and time inflections
- The ability to develop a structured process for idea generation and stock selection
- An interest in and desire to learn about portfolio construction and risk management
- Fluency in the uses and applications of large data sets in the discretionary investment process
