Job Description:
Insurance Operations
- Collaborate with GGC to report on insurance covers, premiums, and recoveries.
- Liaise with brokers for documentation, coverage issues, and assist commercial hubs.
- Manage hull claims with brokers and coordinate with the fleet’s operation team.
- Ensure timely renewal of global insurance policies (e.g., professional indemnity, workers' compensation, liability, marine cargo, directors and officers, travel, cyber security, property, auto liability).
- Prepare reports and presentations on claims records for renewals.
- Instruct brokers on arranging appropriate insurance programs.
- Resolve insurance queries from departments and third parties.
- Explore additional covers like war risk, piracy, and loss of hire.
- Maintain records of all insurance covers, premiums, policies, and loss records.
Contract Insurance Reviews
- Review policy wordings and identify issues.
- Ensure contract terms align with existing insurance and arrange additional coverage as needed.
Claims Handling
- File and notify claims promptly with brokers/underwriters.
- Work with brokers, insurers, and internal teams to maximize and expedite recoveries.
Business Partnering
- Train stakeholders on timely submission of insurance claims.
Data Analysis and Loss Prevention
- Identify loss trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Report monthly on claims trends and incidents.
- Compile and report claim statistics and loss records.
- Liaise with Average Adjustors for General Average declarations and assist with Particular Average claims.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Business, or Insurance.
- Familiarity with shipping industry insurance policies.
- Strong understanding of insurance terms, conditions, endorsements, and exclusions.
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
