The Therapy associate is responsible for providing support to the therapists before, during and after therapy sessions.
Clinical Duties
- Carry out prescribed therapeutic exercises and activities as instructed by therapist
- Assist therapists in assessing clients’ status for suitability to start therapy sessions or to continue with therapy sessions
- Conduct routine assessments and outcome measures for clients as prescribed by therapists
- Record therapy sessions according to template sets
- Communicate information of therapy sessions to therapists
- Educate clients and caregivers on therapeutic interventions as instructed by therapists
- Manage and conduct therapy sessions independently for straightforward cases after discussion with therapists
- Conduct basic or routine group therapy
- Ensure proper use of equipment including technological-assisted rehabilitation equipment
Administrative and Program Related Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of therapy areas
- Adhere to infection control procedures and ensure volunteer’s compliance to procedures
- Assist in setting up and carrying out trial of new equipment/ projects
- Provide and support in the training of therapy assistants/ senior therapy assistants
- Participate in case discussion with the clinical team using a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach
- Participate in continuous professional development
Requirement
- Degree in Physiotherapy/ Occupational Therapy (Non AHPC registered)
- At least 2 years of experiences in similar position in healthcare sector
- Must have an interest to work with persons with disabilities
- A team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Patient, gentle disposition with empathy and strong listening skills
- Able to converse in English and at least one other local language is preferred
