Key duties and responsibilities
To support risk management (underwriting and claim) functions for the assigned markets in terms of the following activities:
- To implement SGL's underwriting policy and principles as well as to ensure risks assumed on a technically sound and profitable basis.
- To provide Product Development (PD) services such as designing tailor-made underwriting/claim approach for the targeted segments.
- Assist in client underwriting quality assurance reviews, due diligence exercises and underwriting process reviews.
- Understand future trend and emerging issues in Underwriting and Claims and identify best practices for potential use
- Driving the innovation and transformation of SCOR Global Life in the changing insurance environment. This includes technology disruption, machine learning, big data, wellness tools, behavioural economics, and product simplification.
Required experience & competencies
- At least 8 years of relevant insurance/reinsurance industry experience of which at least 1 year within Southeast Asia markets.
- Ability to underwrite and assess cases of various line of business e,g Life, Critical Illness, Disability, Long Term care and medical, including claim re underwriting assessments.
- Knowledge of Life and Health Insurance products and able to independently provide risk management solution to new product ideas.
- Bachelor degree with Insurance focus or related field (eg biomedical sciences)
- Ability to engage client and understand their operational process, strategies client solution by engaging various internal stake holders.
- Proactively design training needs for the respective markets and able to execute them with interested clients.
- Conduct regular underwriting audits to ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and in accordance with Scor’s underwriting principle.
- Interest to learn reinsurance treaty wordings and its corresponding link with the quotation slip and the risk management requirements.
