The Demand Planning Manager will oversee and manage the demand planning process for the pet industry sector, ensuring accurate forecasting and inventory management. This role requires strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to manage a team of demand planners. The Demand Planning Manager will work closely with various stakeholders, including sales, marketing, finance, and supply chain teams, to ensure alignment and optimal decision-making.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Demand Forecasting:
- Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts by analyzing historical sales data, market trends, and other relevant factors.
- Utilize statistical models and software tools to predict future demand and adjust forecasts as needed
2. Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of demand planners, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
- Allocate resources effectively and manage workloads to meet departmental objectives.
3. Inventory Management:
- Ensure optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing excess stock and obsolescence.
- Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to manage lead times and supplier relationships.
4. Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including sales, marketing, finance, and supply chain teams.
- Facilitate cross-functional meetings to align on forecast assumptions, promotional activities, and new product launches.
5. Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the demand planning function and implement best practices.
- Continuously monitor and enhance forecasting accuracy and efficiency.
6. Data Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of sales data, market trends, and customer insights to inform demand planning decisions.
- Generate and present regular reports and dashboards to senior management.
7. System Management:
- Oversee the demand planning software and tools, ensuring they are used effectively and maintained properly.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in demand planning technology.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in demand planning, preferably within the pet industry or consumer goods sector.
- Proven experience in managing and developing a team of demand planners.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in demand planning software (e.g., SAP APO, JDA, Oracle Demantra) and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
