Job Title: BXMA, Asia Strategy – Analyst/ Associate
Job Description:
The Analyst will support the Asia Strategy team in its mission to deliver high quality investments across all asset classes (Equity, Credit, Quant, Global Macro), primarily through allocations to third-party hedge funds. Specific job responsibilities include:
- Working with the investment team to source and perform due diligence on prospective hedge fund investments in Asia. This will include meetings with the hedge fund managers and their teams, reference checks, strategy research and quantitative track record analysis.
- Monitoring of existing hedge fund relationships, which include regular conversations with different levels of contacts at the firm, tracking key positions, themes and exposures in the portfolio, and assessing the impact of any organizational changes.
- Liasing closely with BXMA’s New York and global investment and operations teams.
- Working with the team to source, diligence and underwrite opportunistic co-investments and direct investments, leveraging Blackstone’s various groups where appropriate.
- Writing IC memos and client reports for new managers and investments.
- Preparing talking points for senior members of the Asia team for IC and client meetings.
- Thinking strategically about quantitative tools to improve the efficacy of the team’s overall investment process.
- Managing the day-to-day business of the Asia team, including responding to client requests, reporting on the group's activities, and providing Asia market updates.
Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have:
- 1-4 years of relevant work experience ideally in investment research, asset management or at an investment bank
- Superior communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write effectively
- Ability to communicate well across global teams and a desire to work in a team environment.
- Quantitative skills, including conducting analyses, organizing and cleansing data sets, and developing insights.
- A passion for the markets and an understanding of different asset classes
- An ability to manage ad hoc projects independently and to completion.
- Fluent Chinese language skills (written and verbal Mandarin) would be highly advantageous.
