Job Scope:
We are seeking a skilled Business Analyst with expertise in Cobol and AWS (Amazon Web Services) to play a pivotal role in a project to migrate on-premise Cobol codes to AWS. As a Business Analyst, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to analyze, plan, and execute the migration of Cobol-based applications to AWS cloud infrastructure. Your insights and guidance will be critical to ensure a seamless and successful migration process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Requirements Gathering
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their requirements for the Cobol code migration.
- Analyze existing Cobol applications and identify functionality and data dependencies.
2. Solution Design
- Work closely with solution architect, framework team and developers to design migration solutions that align with business needs.
- Develop documentation outlining the proposed migration strategy.
- Design the detailed technical solution based on underlying framework and infrastructure architecture.
3. Test Suites Documentation and Test Data Mining
- Document each test case with clear objectives, expected outcomes, and test steps.
- Regularly review and revise test cases to reflect changes in the project scope, or discovered during testing phases per users and IT Project Manager’s review.
- Determine the types of data needed to thoroughly test application functionalities, including boundary value, error value, and standard use case data.
4. Risk Assessment
- Identify potential risks and challenges associated with the migration process.
- Develop mitigation plans and contingency strategies.
5. System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing
- Conduct thorough system integration testing.
- Capable of troubleshooting code-level problems effectively.
- Support users and IT Project Manager on user acceptance testing execution.
6. Documentation and Reporting
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of the migration process, including business requirements specification, technical design specification, test suites and so on.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project milestones and any deviations from the plan.
7. Training and Knowledge Transfer
- Assist in training and knowledge transfer sessions for user stakeholders involved in the migration process.
- Ensure a smooth transition to the AWS environment.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst in IT projects.
- Must have at least 15+ years of experience in AWS, Java, Cobol.
- Excellent knowledge of AWS services, cloud architecture, and best practices.
- Excellent knowledge of Cobol and IBM Mainframe.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Hold AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer) are a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- IT system implementation experience in government healthcare and public sector is a must.
