Responsibilities:
The Badminton Technical Director (TD) plays a pivotal role in driving the success of high performance sports programs, contributing to the development of elite badminton players, athlete pathway and development of coaches. This position requires a strategic, innovative, and results-driven individual with a passion for excellence in sports performance.
- Leading and manage the technical aspects of high performance sports programs.
- Overseeing the development and implementation of training programs, performance analysis, talent identification, and coaching strategies to ensure the success of athletes at the highest levels of competition.
- Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for high performance sports programs, aligning with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Lead the identification and recruitment of talented athletes, coaches, and support staff to enhance the performance of the sports programs.
- Design and oversee the development of comprehensive training programs and ideal Daily Training Environment that optimise the performance and potential of athletes.
- Utilise data and performance metrics to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make data-driven decisions to improve athlete performance.
- Provide leadership and guidance to coaches and support staff, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to excel in their roles.
- Implement strategies for the holistic development of athletes, including physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and ethical standards in high performance sports.
- Collaborate with external partners and other stakeholders to enhance the overall high performance sports ecosystem.
- To provide comprehensive apprenticeship training for a core group of SBA-identified coaches.
- To provide mentorship and training for the identified local coaching personnel to possibly assume the incumbent’s role.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a leadership role of at least 10 years in managing elite badminton players, with a strong track record of success.
- In-depth knowledge of sports science, athlete development, and performance analysis.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of the competitive landscape and trends of international badminton scene.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and travel as required.
- Degree/Certification in sports coaching.
