Level 3 Network Engineer
Key Responsibilities:
Incident Management:
- Provide advanced technical support for complex network issues escalated from GSC teams
- Troubleshoot & resolve intricate network problems related to GNS managed network products/services
- When engaged, lead/handle P1/P2/P3C network incidents, ensuring timely resolution
- Lead root cause investigations for critical/managed incidents & implement preventive measures to mitigate future occurrences
- Provide prompt detailed incident summaries with recommendations for resolutions & next actions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as SMEs, Engineering & vendors, to resolve complex network issues
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for network-related emergencies
Change Management:
- Evaluate network change requests submitted by change initiators to understand & assess the scope, impact, potential risks & disruptions to services dependencies
- Make informed decisions about whether to approve, reject or defer the proposed network changes & ensure that the changes comply with regulatory requirements, GNS network and security standards & appropriate controls & safeguards are in place to mitigate risks
- Plan FLSEs and yearly activities such as Akamai route off/on for all regional sites as per schedule
Problem Management:
- Investigate & analyze network related problems reported through the problem management process that includes identifying the root causes, implementing corrective actions & ensure that the problem has been resolved
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to diagnose & address network related issues that may have broader and implications across the various IT functions
- Document the details of problem investigations, findings, actions taken & resolution steps accurately
- Participate in Problem management calls to communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on problem resolution progress & explain technical details in non-technical terms & manage expectations regarding resolution timeframes
Network Documentation:
- Develop and maintain network documentations, including OGLs, KOPs, NetWiki, Confluence & etc.
- Review post-mortem reported submitted by GSC and SOMs and ensure that the information is accurate & comprehensive
Network Design:
- Review current network design standards/best practices with the respective stakeholders to ensure a stable, sustainable, and secure network infrastructure
- Perform network gap analysis on network devices, and infrastructure to pro-actively detect and resolve network and performance issues related. This includes network performance, analyzing logs, and responding to alerts and incidents
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) role for suite of network technologies such as routing/switching, ISEs, firewalls, proxies, LB, ULL, Wireless & etc.
Continuous Learning:
- Stay up to date with emerging network technologies, industry best practices, and advancements in network tools. Continuously enhance technical skills through self-learning, training and certifications
- Mentor & Train Tier 1 and 2 support engineers on advanced networking concepts, troubleshooting techniques and best practices
Skill Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of network operational experience, preferably in financial institutions or equivalent
- CCIE or other expert level technical certifications equivalent or highly desirable
- In-depth and hands-on experience in several enterprise networking principles, routing/switching protocols & technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, GTM, LTM VPN, MP-BGP, OSPF, Cisco ACI, Arista, Web proxy, FortiGate, Checkpoint HSRP, Multicast, Spanning tree, VRF, Wireless, L2/L3 E-VPN, F5 and DWDM)
- Experience with network tools and technologies (e.g., SNMP, NetFlow, packet capture analysis)
- ITIL®v4 Foundation certification would be an advantage
