Job description
Investigate marine cargo claims
The prime responsibility is cargo claims handling, proactively managing claim files from initial notification to settlement. The role requires effective communication with underwriters, their clients and stakeholders to ensure prompt agreement and payment.
This will encompass:
- Providing instructions to surveyors.
- Ensuring all documentation is correctly collected.
- Analysing survey reports.
- Reviewing cargo insurance policy terms and conditions to ensure that coverage is accurately assessed.
- Assessing and adjusting assigned claims.
- Producing narrative reports and invoices to insurers with recommendations on policy liability.
- Pursuing subrogated claims (i.e. recoveries) against liable third parties.
- Maintain good relationships with clients
- Some office admin and data input work will also be involved
Training: On-the-job training will be given.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese to liaise with mainland Chinese clients
- An analytical mind and good logical reasoning,
- Relevant experience or knowledge in cargo claims will be an advantage
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Hours: 9.30am – 5.30pm Monday-Friday (including 1 hr lunch break). Some flexibility in start and finish time is possible. This is a full-time, hybrid role with flexibility for remote work.
Salary
$2,700/- to $3,000/- per month (for fresh diploma graduates) or
$3,000/- to $3,300/- if you have relevant working experience (Executive Role)
