The Graphic & Digital Designer is part of the Communications, Digital and Marketing team. This is a unique opportunity to work for one of Singapore’s largest performing arts companies, to channel your design abilities into our mission to nurture the love of classical music.
This is a contract position that is renewable on a yearly basis.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and Production
Design and/or produce the following key products. The exact extent of your work and responsibilities will depend on your level of experience and expertise.
- The Singapore Symphony’s annual season brochure
- Concert programme booklets
The Designer will coordinate with external vendors should these projects be done externally.
Creative Support
Working with department teammates, interns and external vendors to design or provide design support to such items as:
- Original artwork for use as concert key visuals, posters etc.
- Sourcing, curating, editing and adapting pre-existing assets (e.g. artist photos) for ads, social media, websites, etc.
- Ad hoc brochures, flyers, posters and print ads.
- Merchandise.
- Video production for branding or social media purposes, such as editing footage and photos into trailers.
Brand Guardianship & Marketing
To become familiar with the brand guidelines and identity of the Singapore Symphony Group, in order to uphold the brand integrity and quality of design work done within the company and by external parties.
Your design ethic should be geared towards the business of marketing, with a keen eye for what sells events and good taste in representing the Singapore Symphony brand.
Desirable Traits:
- Appreciation of (classical) music with some familiarity of its conventions.
- Expertise in photography and videography.
- Customer-centric, fair and flexible in adapting to requirements without fuss, with an open-minded, give-and-take attitude.
- Creative maturity to apply individual aesthetic sense to work and not follow directions blindly.
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree holder in a related discipline
- Proven experience in relevant design software, with an impressive portfolio that must be submitted as part of this application.
- Thorough understanding of key design elements in marketing such as typography and branding.
- Good language skills – for communicating with clients and handling copy in visuals.
- Understanding of print conventions such as layout, paper, colour systems and file formats.
Equipment:
At our Esplanade office, our Graphic Designer desk is powered by a Mac Mini. An extra monitor can be provided to you to facilitate working from home, subject to approval. Software installed in this machine includes the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects etc.) and Final Cut Pro.
Additional jobs away from the desk
- Assist with concert front-of-house duties when rostered. Availability to work occasionally on concert nights and weekends, with time-off accrued.
- Participate in ad hoc projects needing an aesthetic eye, such as photoshoots, social media and video projects.
