In your capacity as Manager, IT Architecture, you will report to the VP, Digital & Technology, working in close liaison with the Star Alliance member airlines as well as external stakeholders. This is a challenging role for the successful candidate who is motivated to drive Star Alliance’s products and projects.
This is a position in the Digital & Technology team, which provides Star Alliance member airlines with expert knowledge in the areas of IT Architecture, Operations and Security. Providing crucial solution support to both Customer Experience and Loyalty business areas. Further, the team ensures cost effective and effective technology selection and usage, continually challenging the status quo.
Job Summary
Architecture
▪Define and execute an architecture strategy, which enables cost effective and timely delivery of Business unit projects
▪Oversee overall architecture and review API design of the Digital Services platform, and Star Alliance middleware and applications
▪Ensure Star Alliance IT technology landscape is fit for purpose, supporting the long-term technology strategy
▪Provide Airline IT architecture expertise for the development of new applications and the modernization of existing ones. Contribute to achieving desired business outcomes in the most efficient manner and making best use of modern technology, communication, and data sharing mechanisms available
▪Develop cloud strategy and re-architect enterprise applications to be cloud native
▪Create high level architecture for cloud applications
▪Ensure right sized and continuously optimised cloud infrastructure and data network
▪Execute proof of concepts to try out new technology, lead innovation efforts from an IT Architecture standpoint
Business Support
▪Generate new digital service or technology opportunities through participation in organised events with Product Owners, Star Alliance member carriers and third party providers
▪Support project initiatives to develop technical and digital specifications, application architectures and digital solutions
▪Analyse current applications’ effectiveness and identify solutions to increase productivity, reduce complexity and/or reduce costs
▪Support negotiations of technical and commercial aspects with vendors
Your Profile
▪A minimum of 5 years of IT Architecture working experience in an IT environment, within an airline or airline IT organization.
▪Experience working with web and mobile solutions and technologies developing enterprise and application architectures open source technologies service oriented architectures middleware environments
messaging – Type-B, and MQ, webservices, Edifact
▪Experience, exposure to, or understanding of airline IT ecosystem and current technology development – PSS, NDC, Offer & Order, etc.
▪Broad technical understanding of systems and software lifecycle development activities
▪Self-starter – has a high level of drive and commitment
▪Conceptual thinking and flexibility
▪Cultural awareness and great interpersonal and presentation skills
▪High level of proficiency in English is essential, as it is the sole language used for communication with Star Alliance Member Airlines and other external stakeholders
▪Relevant academic qualifications and certifications – Information technology, programming, IT architecture, etc
