Department Overview:

Epworth HomeSweetHome was started in 2013 in partnership with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) as the first Therapeutic Group Home in Singapore. The Home provides stay-in treatment for children between the ages of 7 to 12 years old who have experienced abuse. We use the Trauma System Therapy (TST) treatment model to help children with complex trauma and aggressive behaviour.

We believe that with early and appropriate intervention, children can recover and become well-adjusted persons with a healthy mental well-being. Apart from treatment within the Home, we also work with other helping professionals so that all the needs of these children could be met. Together with MSF, we work towards safe placements for these children, when they are ready to be discharged from the Home and well enough to return to the community.

Job Description:

• Work with others in a team to provide an environment of safety for children with difficult behaviours in a children’s home.
• Able to respond calmly to children when they exhibit difficult behaviours.
• Look after the needs of children (physical & mental wellbeing of children in care).
• Creating a safe and positive living environment, setting rules for children’s behaviour & providing one to one teaching/coaching on daily living skills.
• Check on each resident’s needs and progress.
• Help children form secure attachment bonds with appropriate adults.
• Provide close supervision to children.
• Work effectively in a team environment.

Requirements

• Diploma in any discipline
• Must be able to work rotating shifts (day & night), on weekends and public holidays
• Able to work in an energetic environment with children
• Experience working with children is an advantage
• Persistent and active learner
• Need to have understanding and a non-judging attitude

The Social worker attends to individual cases when children come into foster care. They conduct interviews and assessments to report on the case, supporting clients via thorough case management and communication to relevant stakeholders, which allow client needs to be met. This role is for a committed individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of children and their families through communication and case management.

Job Scope:

· Handle casework and/or counseling

· Conduct office interviews and regular home visits

· Support clients through the full spectrum of case management, including regular follow-up and communication

· Build good rapport with relevant stakeholders and external agencies in order to mobilize resources to meet client’s needs

· Complete assessments and reports and any other administrative requirements related to case management

Requirements:

· Familiar with parenting/family issues and care of children with social issues

· Trauma-informed and knowledge of attachment issues will be an advantage

· Good report writing skills

· Bilingual, with good communication and interpersonal skills

· Able to plan your tasks and open to learning

· Responsible, resilient, self-motivated, and a team player

· Able to work on weekends and evenings, when required

Qualifications:

· Degree or graduate diploma in social work or equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant work experience

Job Scope

• Plan, co-ordinate and recruit volunteers to support foster parents caring for foster children
• Assess potential volunteers through interviews and writing reports
• Match, coordinate, schedule and deploy suitable volunteers to support foster parents in various ways including transport arrangement
• Follow up and monitor the progress of cases matched with volunteers
• Engage and retain interests of volunteers, partners and stakeholders
• Involve in the recruitment and outreach events for both foster parents and volunteers
• Support and work collaboratively with the recruitment officer
• Plan and run programmes for foster parents and foster children
• Any other assigned tasks and projects

Requirements

• Minimum Diploma, with preferably above 2 years of experience in the social service sector, especially in the area of volunteer management
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to work well with children, youths, adults including elderly
• Possess good working attitude and willing to learn
• Systematic with good organisation skills
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Canva
• Familiar with the usage of social media such as Instagram
