The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites applications for the position of Research Engineer II. The RE II will carry out research project for industrial robot controller and applications with open source environment ROS2.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for developing ROS2 controller application & AI software for industrial requirements.
• Responsible for promotion to and coordination with industry partners both locally and internationally
• Assisting the team for robot system integration with ROS2 controller

Job Requirements:

• Master in Robotics from Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering
• Familiar with industrial manipulator modeling, control, or AI techniques for robotics
• Good hands-on experience on industrial robot programming
• Familiar with C/C++, ROS, Linux OS, Windows OS, and other similar libraries and software tools
• Good robot system integration experiences

Requirement:

• Hands on experience in building and deploying production-level data-driven applications and data processing workflows/pipelines and/or implementing machine learning systems at scale in Python and deliver analytics involving all phases like data ingestion, feature engineering, modelling, tuning, evaluating, monitoring, and presenting.
• Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning solutions using SageMaker, Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, or other frameworks and libraries.
• Solid understanding of machine learning concepts, techniques, and best practices such as data preprocessing, feature engineering, model selection, hyperparameter tuning, validation, testing, challenger models, and MLOps.
• Hands on experience in NLP use cases.

Good to have:

• Exposure in Snowflake.
• Exposure in CI/CD tooling.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understand the internal working mechanism of embedded virtual machine in Android malware
• Design and implement a deep learning-based malware detection system
• Evaluate the system with respect to core metrics such as effectiveness and efficiency
• Write scientific report about the work

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or closely related disciplines from an institution of higher learning
• Minimum 2 year of relevant research experience in cybersecurity or machine learning
• Proficiency in programming software/languages such as C and Python is required
• Deep understanding and know-how on Android or Linux
• Working knowledge of deep learning techniques• Good analytical, technical and problem solving skills

Responsibilities:

• Apply research to advance technology of deep image/video/text generation for applications in game content creation and language agents toward game simulation
• Deliver advances in downstream experiments or demos using the application of models

Requirements:

• Ms degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, cognitive psychology, robotics with 1+ years of experience with at least one automatic differentiation framework (PyTorch, Tensorflow, etc)
• Primary interest in large language model application delivery, and first-authored publications at leading workshops, conferences, or journals is preferred
