Tasks:

• Conduct literature reviews on the use of digital technologies and AI applications in public health, focusing on dengue and Covid-19 prevention, monitoring, and control.
• Assist with data collection through interviews with stakeholders (public health officials, tech developers, researchers) and through document analysis of government reports, policies, and relevant publications.
• Support comparative analysis of prevention strategies, focusing on digital technologies (mobile apps, AI, IoT, drones) used in different countries.

We are seeking applications for two full-time postdoctoral researcher/research fellow positions to work on building a theoretical framework to examine factors that affect public trust in digitalization, alongside trust in government and public institutions to manage associated risks. Through multi-city large scale surveys and online experiments, the study seeks to understand public attitudes towards technology, the digital information pipeline, and the role of government. This research will contribute to policy design and the implementation of digital technologies in a way that is sensitive to public concerns and expectations.

The two positions are available from Q3 2024 (reasonably earlier or later start date is negotiable) for 3 years each. The researchers are expected to have significant experience in designing and conducting survey research with a focus on digital technologies, platforms, AI, public trust, or other closely related areas. The Department of English, Linguistics and Theatre Studies at Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting ONE Research Fellow to work on a Social Science and Humanities Research (SSHR) Fellowship project, “Archipelagic Mappings and Performance Routes, Routers, and Networks (1840–1940),” directed by the Principal Investigator (PI), Assistant Professor Alvin Eng Hui Lim. The position will be based in Singapore with an intended start date of August 2024 for a period of two years.

The SSHR Fellowship-funded project seeks to study early waves of interculturalism and performance-making during the colonial period and identify obvious gaps in research on the theatrical networks and performance routes of the nineteenth century to early twentieth century. The project will theorise and document the circulation and travels of theatre, dance, and performance against the backdrop of colonial expansion, territorialisation, cultural diplomacy, trade, and technological development between 1840 to 1940. By situating Singapore as a significant node, the study will trace the networks that existed between urban centres, port cities, and the sea routes (namely, along the Malacca and Singapore Straits and diverging across Australia, Hong Kong and the Southern provinces of China, to name a few) that performance practices and performers travelled on as they embarked and disembarked, evolved, or took root across places in the region. These networks will be visualised and narrated through storymaps and digital scholarship, ensuring that the histories of individual traditions are not told in isolation but interwoven into a connected history of performance-making in the region.

The successful applicant will be offered a contract of 24 months from the date of hire. S/he will receive an attractive monthly remuneration depending on experience and qualifications. The RF will be tasked with not only the technical aspects of research projects but also administrative and managerial responsibilities associated with them. Additionally, they will play a crucial role in supporting PhD students by offering academic and research guidance, collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr Shah. Ideal candidates should bring substantial research experience in relevant fields, possess robust data analysis skills, and demonstrate proficiency in programming.

The selected candidate will engage in both academic development and hands-on fieldwork, collaborating with fellow research staff and students. This will be carried out under the guidance and supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).

Job Requirements

- Hold or be in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. (i.e. is in the final stages of PhD studies meaning submitted thesis or pending oral defence) in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Building Science, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrate a proven track record in effectively managing and actively participating in advanced theoretical and computational research projects.
- Able to develop robotic use-cases for Smart Buildings and Smart Facilities Management
- Working with integration of Digital Twins with Robotics and IoT sensors
- Possess strong programming skills, with specific knowledge or experience in the areas listed below:
• Digital Twin
• Robots = Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT), Robot Operating System (ROS) 1 & 2, Python, Java, C++
• Cameras = Localised LAN Server, Video Management Server (VMS), Streaming RTMP
• Display = Remote PC Display
• Experience in API, APKs, SDKs, UI/UX

Job Description

NUS is looking for a Research Fellow to work on Digital Twin of microgrid (MGDT) with energy management system (EMS).

The job requires the candidate to build the digital twin model of the hybrid microgrid with EMS with different operating conditions of sub-system and its associated equipment before actual implementation. Further, this MGDT will be used for the EV applications, therefore, Smart EV Charging, Energy Storage Management System, Energy Storage System, etc to provide unified experience for operation team will also need to be considered.

Qualifications

• Possess a recognised PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with specialisation in microgrid, or EMS.
• Able to work independently by conducting experiments alone or in teams when required, and possess strong experimental validation experience
• Familiar with working of renewable energy systems, digital twin, energy storage, optimisation and control algorithm development.
• Familiar with state-of-the-art simulation platforms such as MATLAB/Simulink.
• Able to work on multiple tasks and projects in a multi-cultural and dynamic environment, with industrial partners, governmental agencies and collaborators.
• Able to draft research proposals, assist the PI in applying for research grants, and manage the research funds.
• Good written and communication skills.
• Open to fixed-term contract.
