The EOS/ASE Geodesy Group at NTU is searching for a Research Engineer II to work under the supervision of Prof Emma Hill on the role of tectonics in modifying regional relative sea level (RSL). The successful candidate will analyse geodetic data and conduct numerical modelling to estimate RSL related to past and future earthquakes and other processes of land-height change in Southeast Asia.

Further to this, they will work on projects aimed at effective communication of these results to policymakers and other stakeholders. They will investigate best practices for communicating probabilistic estimates of potential future impacts of earthquakes on RSL. The successful candidate will have a Bachelors’ degree in Earth Science, natural hazards, remote sensing, geodesy, computer science, data science, or a related subject. Most importantly they will have enthusiasm to engage in the research work of our group, and a passion for making Southeast Asia a safer and more sustainable place for all communities in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and interpret geodetic and remote sensing data from regional observing networks and satellites to further our understanding of land-height change in Southeast Asia.

• Responsible for developing and optimizing ion-implantation and rapid thermal anneal (RTA) processes to support IME's various program requirements.
• Responsibilities include diagnosing malfunctions and using test equipment or software to test faulty hardware parts, applying knowledge of the functional operation of the Ion implanter and RTA equipment.
• Collaborates closely with vendors to optimize equipment performance and reduce tool downtime.
• Setup and execute design of experiments (DOEs) at various dose, energy, tilt, and twist levels, and evaluate experimental data to meet required process specifications.
• Responsible for analyzing test data related to implant-related defect formation, and quantifying and minimizing defects.
• Champion process window characterization and evaluation to drive quality and yield improvement.
• Closely collaborate with process integration teams to implement technology roadmaps, define process capability requirements, and address structural implications and constraints related to ion-implantation and RTA processes.
• Work with fab team in establishing statistical process control for ion-implantation and RTA processes.
• Generate and present reports to both internal and external customers.

Requirements:

• Bachelors/Masters in Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or closely related fields are welcome to apply.
• 3 years direct industry experience in ion-implantation, RTA and SiC MOSFET fabrication is preferred.
• Extensive proficiency in medium and high energy/current ion implantation, and RTA processes, including a comprehensive knowledge of equipment, equipment parts, and troubleshooting techniques to minimize equipment downtime.
• Good understanding of wide bandgap semiconductor materials and their corresponding dopant species.
• Expertise in ion channeling, ion bombardment, and their impact on the implant species profile.
• In-depth comprehension of defect formation and annihilation processes in the implanted region of semiconductors.
• Familiarity with essential device properties resulting from ion implantation and RTA processes.
• Understanding of the hardware of ion-implantation and RTA systems is advantageous.
• Knowledge and prior hands-on experience on basic process characterization techniques such as SEM/TEM, EDX, SIMS, Ellipsometry is advantageous.
• Possess good interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, with ability to deliver clear and concise messages to both internal and external stakeholders.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to optimize the spray drying processes for collagen and gelatine powder production, ensuring high-quality and consistent output.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and team members to ensure all project deliverables are met
• Participate in brainstorming and ideation, conduct research and experiments, create functional models, and maintain documentation of design development
• Develop system from embodiment of concept to detailed design of parts and assemblies, including selection of standard components, through application studies, analyses and calculations
• Organise procurement of required electrical and mechanical components as well as commercial devices
• Guide students to carry out assembly of submodules, integration of system and testing of machines
• Coordinate maintenance of associated equipment with POD technical officers when required
• Perform risk assessment, and ensure compliance with workplace safety and health regulations

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, or related field.
• Professional-level competency in mechanical system and part design
• Strong prototyping skills
• Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or Creo Parametric
• Mechanical engineering degree
• Minimum design experience of 5 years
