We now seek a Research Scientist/ Fellow to join the team of Prof. Ashok Venkitaraman. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a world-leading cancer researcher to undertake pioneering research on the role of genome instability in human carcinogenesis (eg., see Venkitaraman Science (2014) PMID:24675954 and Venkitaraman DNA Repair (2019) PMID:31337537). The role will provide expertise in the establishment, genetic manipulation and maintenance of human and murine organoid cultures as well as design/ perform and analyse work within the project parameters.

Duties And Responsibilities

Research:
o Develop hypotheses and conceptualise, design and execute experiments to address the hypothesis
o To establish, engineer (e.g. by CRISPR) and maintain 3D organoid cultures from a variety of tissue systems
o To carry out molecular and cell biology experiments (i.e. cloning, FACS, western blotting, RNA, sequencing, microscopy) and perform analysis and determinations
o To organise, preserve and present the results of the experiments in a logical manner
o To properly and systematically record all experiments that have been assigned and their results

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL qualifications include:

• Min A Level / Diploma
• Able to start work on 1 Aug 2024
• Commit for 6 months

Working Hours

• Able to work - 4 day ( Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri: 8am to 5pm (with 1 hour break). No Wed ) - 32 Hour a week
• Open to float different Polyclinic and work on Sat half day
• Salary : $1400 per month for A level
• Diploma in science / psychology is $1600 per month

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Fellow to join our team in the development of rechargeable batteries using computational design. As part of this project, you will play a key role in designing composites materials using inorganic solid electrolytes with polymers using computational modelling and machine learning.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field
• A deep understanding of solid-state physics/chemistry and general physical chemistry. Knowledge of rechargeable battery and electrochemistry is a plus. Experience in computational modelling of ceramic or polymer electrolyte is highly desired.
• Well-equipped with different tools of materials modelling. Prior experience of computational modelling of functional materials using DFT (VASP) and molecular dynamics with machine learning force fields is desired.
• Experience and skills in scientific programming (e.g. Python or C/C++) and data analysis, including experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems and command-line environments (e.g. Bash). Experience in machine learning & deep learning, database, and good understanding of high-performance computing hardware is a plus.
• A track record of publishing papers in decent scientific journals and excellent writing & presentation skills.
• Able to collaborate with experimentalist and work with other team members.
