The Centre for Climate Research Singapore (CCRS) is the research division of the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), with a vision is to be a world leading centre in tropical climate and weather research focussing on the Southeast Asia region. With approximately fifty staff, CCRS’ mission is to advance scientific understanding of tropical climate variability and change and its associated weather systems affecting Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia region, so that the knowledge and expertise can benefit decision makers and the community.

Within CCRS, the Department of Weather Research (DWR) is responsible for research and development supporting CCRS’ core ‘seamless’ ‘SINGV’ modelling system, used in both Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and regional climate projection applications e.g. Singapore’s ‘V3’ 3rd National Climate Study launched in January 2024. DWR also oversees research in AI-based rainfall nowcasting, forecast verification, the transition to operations of NWP science upgrades, and the development of customised products to support MSS weather services and other stakeholders. DWR works closely with CCRS’ High Performance Computing Branch, local universities and has bilateral research partnerships with several major international weather/climate organisations including the UK Met Office, Australian Bureau of Meteorology, and US National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). CCRS is a core member of the multinational Momentum (formerly Unified Model) Partnership, with a focus on tropical urban weather/climate.

A new Data Assimilation and Ensembles (DAE) branch has recently been created within DWR to expand CCRS’ research activities in high-resolution (km-scale and higher) ensemble data assimilation (DA). A number of positions are now available in the new branch, at various levels ranging from research scientist to branch head.

• Keeping abreast of the latest research in high-resolution atmospheric DA and ensemble prediction.

The Planetary Health Initiative is SDGHI’s newest strategic initiative. Planetary health pertains to the integrated state of health of both people and the planet. It recognizes that people’s health is now greatly shaped by human-driven global environmental change, such as climate change, environmental pollution, rapid urbanisation, biodiversity loss, among others. • Design measures of programme effectiveness, monitor progress of learning programmes, and assist in the design and execution of education research projects.
• Participate in other activities of the Planetary Health Initiative (such as in the areas of advocacy, policy engagement, research, etc.).
• Perform other duties related to the work described therein such as administration and logistics.

Job Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in education, social sciences, public policy, communications, public health, sustainable development or other related fields with at least 2 years of experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in any related fields with at least 4 to 6 years of knowledge, skills and expertise may also be considered.
• Candidates with fewer number of years of experience may be considered for the junior position of Education Associate I.
• Competent in developing and constructing learning materials for tertiary education, adult learning, and public and youth engagement, as well as in facilitating learning activities and discussions and executing different types of educational experiences.
• Have strong writing and critical thinking skills, as well as good communication and presentation skills.
• Possess strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills which are vital for engagement with partners, collaborators, funders, and other external stakeholders.
• A team player who is able to prioritise, multi-task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.

In addition to your teaching duties, you will carry out industry or consultancy projects to help you remain relevant in your profession and to evolving changes in industry and maintain strong linkages with industry and schools. You will also have the opportunity to have industry attachments or experience on a regular basis to update your skills, knowledge and practices of your profession.

What we are looking for

Training in Civil & Structural Engineering or related discipline with

- At least 3 years relevant experience in Built Environment sector.

- Experience in BIM modelling and coordinating applications in design and/or construction in Architectural, civil & Structural and M&E services in modern buildings.

- Experience in adoption of Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD), Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA), Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), or BIM to Field in modern building projects.

- Knowledge in BEP planning and Corenet X will be an added advantage.
