Purpose of position

In the Cluster Supply Organisation, business specialists, business experts, engineer specialists, engineers and product owners work together as a team. YOUR ROLE:

The Lead/Senior DevOps Engineer will maintain and support Cloud Infrastructure and apply DevOps practices and solutions. The person will also implement Cloud-related and DevOps technologies such as AWS/Azure/Openstack/Kubernetes. Lead/Senior DevOps Engineer will be expected to conduct workshops with client to identify their challenges, come up with transformation roadmap and deliver technical solutions while coaching delivery teams on DevOps best practices.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide customers with reliable solutions
• Configure, maintain, and support the infrastructure both Cloud and On-Premises.
• Install, maintain, and support the various CI/CD, security and testing related tools
• Develop multi-stage CI/CD pipelines to enable faster and frequent releases to production; help delivery teams automate their build and deployment to cloud
• In some cases, act as a system administrator on different operating systems
• Document, and share knowledge on developed DevSecOps solutions
• Collaborate with clients and other PALO IT teams to understand client requirements, design comprehensive end-to-end approach, and implement DevOps solutions that meet client’s needs.

WHO YOU ARE:

• Strong Unix / Linux / Bash knowledge
• Deep understanding of cloud computing, e.g. technologies, deployment, costing, HA/DR, etc
• You should be able to coach delivery teams on DevOps principles, e.g. CI/CD, test automation, release automation etc. and engineering practices, e.g. TDD, BDD
• Well versed with at least one of the public, private or hybrid cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Openstack, OpenShift, Google Cloud (GCP)
• Strong exposure on container technologies (eg: Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, AWS EKS, AKS, Openshift etc..)
• Hands-on experience with automation and infrastructure-as-code using various tools including Terraform, Pulumi, AWS CFN, ARM etc
• Experience with developing and implementing processes to handle releases from development to operations while respecting internal rules, and offering solutions for rollback etc
• Hand-on experience in designing and developing CI/CD pipelines (eg: Github Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines, Gitlab CI, Jenkins etc..)
• You have a good understanding of microservice and event-driven architectures and DevSecOps practices which support relatively complex distributed systems
• Good understanding of monitoring and hands-on experience of setting up and configuring monitoring tools (e.g. ELK, Prometheus, Grafana and Splunk)
• Good to have strong RDBMS and NoSQL skill in deploying and fine-tuning such as MySQL, Oracle, Elasticsearch.
• Overall, 6-8 years of experience in platform automation, applying various DevOps principles.

What you’ll do

You’ll be responsible for supporting hundreds of colleagues globally through our cloud-based infrastructure. We maintain 100+ SaaS services on Okta, as well as Google Workspace, and workstations including Mac, Linux, Windows, Chromebooks, and AWS WorkSpaces. Workstations run device-management and endpoint protection clients, and we use SIEM to monitor events from our endpoint protection platform, applications, and networks.

In this role, you can expect to:

• Onboard new hires, provision laptops, and provide technical support
• Identify, prioritize, and resolve reported problems involving data, account administration, desktop hardware/software, and applications, escalating to the next tier when appropriate
• Perform support requests on various cloud services such as Google Workspace and Okta
• Monitor a helpdesk to provide support to 700+ geographically dispersed users and respond to tickets within the agreed time frame
• Work closely with IT vendors and partners
• Maintain an inventory of consumable IT products and know how to restock them locally

What you’ll bring

• Intermediate knowledge in administering end-user workstations (Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, Linux)
• An understanding of basic troubleshooting for desktop and endpoint hardware issues
• Ability to sanitize and reimage workstations and other devices
• Knowledge of common helpdesk/service desk systems and how to effectively use them
• Intermediate knowledge of managing SaaS services such as Google Workspace, Okta, and 1Password
• Intermediate knowledge of endpoint management solutions such as Workspace One and Kandji
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN configurations

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and maintain windows serves, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Oversee Active Directory services, including user and group management, GPO implementation and Security best practices.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell or other scripting solutions for automation and system management tasks
• Experience with VMware and VDI Horizon for virtualization and desktop infrastructure management.
• Familiarity with AWS GCC (Government Cloud) for cloud infrastructure management and security compliance.

• Familiar in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Ansible for automation and system management tasks.
• Experience with middleware platforms such as IBM WAS, Jboss, and MQ
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization technologies is a plus
• Relevant certification such as Red Har Certified Engineer (RHCE) or IBM Certified System Administrator - AIX
