Summary

A Senior Geotechnical Engineer position is available with Fugro Marine Geotechnical Team. The Marine Geotechnical service line is responsible for acquiring and interpreting accurate geotechnical data which enables our clients to make informed decisions during the engineering, design and construction phases of infrastructure development projects, ultimately reducing project risk and costs.

Reporting to a Principal Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Manager, the Senior Geotechnical Engineer will take responsibility for independently delivering the findings of offshore site characterisation projects whilst managing a small engineering team in the future. From time to time you will also lead site based teams which is predominantly on dedicated geotechnical drilling vessels.

• Perform geotechnical analysis and numerical modelling for various aspects of marine civil works, such as foundations, retaining structures, slope stability, tunnels, shafts construction and ground improvement techniques.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including BIM, structural engineers, and construction professionals, to ensure seamless integration of geotechnical design with overall project requirements and timely completion of project tasks.
• Provide expert recommendations and solutions for geotechnical challenges during project planning, execution, and post-construction phases.
• Perform site inspections, mapping, and geotechnical monitoring to assess ground conditions, stability, and integrity during construction activities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field with a focus on geotechnical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics and geotechnical analysis techniques including borehole logging, geophysical surveys, in-situ and laboratory testing of soil and rocks to determine their physical and mechanical properties.
• Experience and a digital aptitude for learning Leapfrog Works 3D Modelling software coupled with a passion for improving models from newly acquired factual geotechnical databases.

Responsibilities

• Basic help desk resolution and service desk delivery.
