A quantity surveyor may work for either the client, the contractor or sub-con, working in an office or on site. They are involved in a project from the start, preparing estimates and costs of the work.
When the project is in progress, quantity surveyors keep track of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show profitability.
Aside from Quantity Surveyor, he or she will also act as project engineer wherein will take charge of the suprvising the project, adhere to construction procedures, coordinate all work schedule with the main con and liase with project manager and archi coordinator.
He or She should monitor and ensure that the work progress is within project schedules and manage the project independently as well as lead and motivate team.
Estimation of quantities, preparing BOQ, BBS as per drawing.
• Coordinating with Design & Construction team.
• Review engineering drawing and specifications and ensure the correctness of transfer of drawing details to ground, Checking all centering and reinforcement works.
• Physical measurement of quantities and tracking the productivity.
• Ensuring timely resource availability.
• Undertaking cost analysis for repair and alteration done by customer in project work.
• Evaluating completed work and arranging payments
• Ensure quality of structure, works as per drawing and specifications & ensure no rework
• Analyzing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports.
• Preparation of Daily, Weekly and Monthly reports and submitting it to the Management
