The goal of GTAR is to design and conduct research across multiple frontier technologies, in order to enable novel discoveries and inventions, and to inform and develop next-generation solutions for the firm’s clients and businesses.
As a 2025 Quantum Communication and Quantum Cryptography Summer Associate within the Global Technology Applied Research (GTAR) division of JPMorgan Chase & Co., your professional growth and development will be supported throughout the internship program via project work related to your academic and professional interests, mentorship, interaction with senior stakeholders and more. Our areas of focus include Quantum Communication, Quantum Cryptography, Symmetric Key Cryptography, as well as Post-Quantum Cryptography. Full-time employment offers may be extended upon successful completion of the program.
Job responsibilities
• Advance the field of quantum-safe cryptography and their applications to the financial world
• Provide novel research solutions to problems faced by internal project teams
• Work with other researchers to document your findings in scientific papers
• Contribute to JPMC’s IP by pursuing necessary protections of generated IP
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field & enrolled in a master’s or Ph.D. degree program in math, science, engineering, computer science or related fields
• 2+ years of experience in quantitative research or experience in scientific technical writing
• Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated research ability with strong communication skills and the ability to present findings to a non-technical audience
• Proficiency in Python/MATLAB
• Quantum Cryptography, Quantum Information Theory, Symmetric Key Cryptography
• Post-Quantum Cryptography, Zero Knowledge Proofs, Secure Multi-party Computation, Quantum Cryptanalysis
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
• Preference is given to candidates with a strong publication record
