RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position is for College of Integrative Studies / IPCC Working Group II Technical Support Unit (CIS)
- Coordinate and oversee science-related aspects of the TSU.
- Manage the scientific support for the Working Group II activities and products during the Seventh Assessment cycle.
- Develop and manage processes for scoping, preparation, review, and completion of reports.
- Collaborate closely with Working Group II Co-Chairs and Bureau to shape and guide scientific aspects of assessments.
- Support the development of summary products such as the Summary for Policymakers and Technical Summary, as well as the Synthesis Report.
- Coordinate scientific contributions to Working Group II meetings and sessions.
- Supervise scientific staff in the Working Group II TSUs.
- Maintain communication and collaboration with Heads of Science from other TSUs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in climate- or environmental-science related field, preferably in the following fields: climate change impacts, climate adaptation, environmental modelling, socio-economic system analysis; and at least 10 years of work experience in the abovementioned or related fields.
- Scientific publications in refereed journals.
- Experience leading a multi-cultural science team;
- working on international projects;
- scientific report writing and editing.
- Ability to develop, plan and execute complex multi-task workloads.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and capability to interact with international science community.
- Proficient in oral and written English at an academic publication level.
- High degree of stress-resistance and capacity to work to deadlines.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- Experience working with UN processes, in particular the IPCC, would be an asset.
