As a Platform Data Engineer you'd be able to work on and solve many interesting challenges which we are facing, learn new ways of working, and help build delightful high-quality products for our customers during the exchange period (2 Sep 2024 to 22 Nov 2024).
Job Description
You will support and play a role in building, deploying, and maintaining a cutting-edge, cloud-native data platform. You will collaborate closely with various teams including data engineering, data science, product engineering, and other data engineers to ensure our platform delivers accurate, timely, and actionable insights critical to business growth.
The Role Responsibility:
· Design, build, and maintain a modern, automated, and scalable cloud-native data platform encompassing relational databases, data pipelines, and supplementary data services.
· Collaborate with development, product, risk and security, legal and compliance teams to ensure alignment with operational and regulatory requirements.
· Implement and maintain a robust controls framework aligned with industry practices and regulatory requirements.
· Enhance data controls documentation and processes, making continuous improvements.
· Engage in Agile/Lean projects, employing CICD toolchain for efficient deployment and configuration management using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
· Utilize strong scripting skills in Python and Bash for automation tasks.
· Enhance SDLC processes through CICD automation and operational improvements.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams on production stability and incident management.
· Implement monitoring and alerting systems for both production and non-production environments.
· Improve system design and architecture for enhanced stability, performance, and reliability.
· Troubleshoot and resolve customer and system issues promptly.
Role Specific Technical Competencies
- Good knowledge of the SDLC and operational processes.
- Good knowledge of SQL, relational and NoSQL databases
- Experience with S3, RDS and Kafka or other streaming or messaging systems. Ideally an understanding of event sourcing or CQRS
- Experience with integration i.e., REST, Webservices, Messaging
- Experience improving the SDLC via CICD.
- Experience with microservice based or distributed solutions
- Experience with AWS and Kubernetes or Docker
- Experience with testing with unit, contract, and integration tests as well as reliability testing
Our Ideal Candidate:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field.
· 12 years of IT experience with a focus on database and messaging system management in a cloud environment.
· Expertise in AWS services with proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, and data sharding.
· Practical knowledge of Kafka platform operations and other systems like RabbitMQ, AWS Kinesis, and Airflow.
· Familiarity with big data concepts, Hadoop, Spark, and managing Data Lake is advantageous.
· Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, data governance, and data security strategies.
· Experience with Agile methodologies and continuous improvement practices.
· Previous experience in a financial environment and with microservice-based architectures is preferred.
