Societe des Matieres Premieres Tropicales Pte Ltd (SMPT) is the global natural rubber hub for the Michelin Group. SMPT serves as a procurement hub for the Group: managing the Group’s natural rubber supply chains, providing in-house technical expertise, and conducting due diligence in the supply chain by implementing the Michelin Sustainable Natural Rubber Policy.
The natural rubber sustainability team at Michelin is looking a Sustainability Program Manager (Natural Rubber) to support the implementation of its Sustainable Natural Rubber Policy and ensure compliance with emerging ESG regulation.
Mission:
Directed by the Natural Rubber Sustainability Department, the Sustainability Program Manager supports implementation of our Sustainable Natural Rubber Policy with a focus on supply chain due diligence and compliance with ESG regulation like the European Union Deforestation-free Regulation (EUDR).
Key Expected Achievements:
• Consolidate, implement and monitor an ESG due diligence system for natural rubber sourcing. The system should cover policy commitments and regulatory obligations such as the EUDR.
• Engage internal and external suppliers on due diligence requirements, standards and standard operating procedures. Manage instances or non-conformance with actions plans.
• Manage the ESG database underpinning the due diligence system, integrating various tools with ESG data including: supply chain sustainability assessments, traceability, deforestation analysis and other environmental and social data.
• Anchor reporting efforts related to supply chain due diligence activities, including obligatory regulatory annual reporting.
• Coordinate with downstream internal and external stakeholders to ensure they receive required supply chain data to comply with ESG expectations and regulatory obligations (e.g., geolocalization and due diligence data in the context of the EUDR).
• Support daily sustainability operations, which may include contribution to capacity building development projects, stakeholder and supplier engagement.
• Collaborate as necessary across departments, including at a global level, to synchronize sustainability activities.
Qualifications and level expected:
• Bachelor’s degree in: environmental studies/science, biological science, earth science, physical geography, or any other sustainability related degree
• Language(s): Strong competency in English (including writing); fluency or competency in other regional (South-east Asian) languages is a plus.
• Strong background in sustainability/ESG themes (e.g., sustainable supply chains, biodiversity, deforestation risks in supply chains, social risks, UN sustainable development goals)
• Background in sustainable supply chains, sustainable sourcing, ESG or sustainability compliance and audit, or corporate sustainability.
• Basic technical knowledge of spatial analysis/mapping in risk mapping and sustainability analysis (familiarity with ArcGIS/QGIS is a plus)
• Independent and a problem solver
• Willing to travel, including to “turbulent” areas (based in Singapore, but occasional missions to primarily SE Asia and potentially Africa). 30-50 d/y.
