JOB SUMMARY

• We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist with strong data and analytical skills. You will be tasked with managing all aspects any new work/project assessments thoroughly from inception to delivery. You will need to build close working relationships with COO business and CDO in order to gather specific modelling requirements and define and scope the work. Our Ideal Candidate

• 3+ years of experience in the data science field.
• Preferably higher education in one of the following fields: Math / Quantitative Methods / Econometrics / Information Systems, Physics.
• Solid experience in at least one of the following programming languages: Python or R.
• Experience in application of statistics, classification, regression, segmentation and dimensionality reduction methods and preferably in any of the following data science related areas: econometrics, time-series analysis, optimization methods, Bayesian statistics, natural language processing.
• Solid understanding of most of the following algorithms: linear regression, logistic regression, decision and regression trees, random forest, boosting algorithms (e.g.: XGBoost), k-means, hierarchical clustering and principal component analysis.

The Data Science Director will be a member of VCA Data Science team in Asia Pacific and will report to the Head of Data Science overseeing the IPVMC cluster. The position will be based in Visa’s Singapore office.

Functional Description

At American Express we are focused on providing the best customer experience everyday through a differentiated set of products and services. We are looking for a senior researcher and developer at director level in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) with focus on developing enterprise-grade data science capabilities in natural language processing (NLP) and conversational AI to support emerging use cases on enterprise-wide level, in close partnership with Technology, Marketing, Servicing and Risk organizations.

We are looking for candidates who have strong expertise and in-depth knowledge in NLP, extensive experience conducting innovative research in NLP and unstructured data domain, as well as a proven track record of developing innovative machine learning solutions to deliver exceptional customer experiences and incremental business values.

Responsibilities

• Conduct original research in machine learning and NLP domain with aim to develop enterprise-grade NLP capabilities to solve impactful business problems
• Identify opportunities on enterprise level to transform business processes and practices with innovative NLP capabilities
• Build strong partnership with multiple stakeholders across the Blue Box to revolutionize NLP capabilities for diversified use cases (marketing, risk and servicing)
• Uplift the innovation and cutting-edge R&D in unstructured data modeling, one of the most dynamic and fast-growing area in today’s AI community

Qualifications

• Masters/PhDs in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Operation Research and etc.)
• 7+ years of hands-on experiences in machine learning modeling, NLP and conversational AI
• Strong expertise and knowledge in cutting-edge deep learning research and its application in NLP domain.
• A strong record of delivering machine learning and/or data products including defining business problems, identifying data strategy, building MVPs, and scaling prototypes to production solutions
• Familiarity and proficiency with agile methods and tools to support project management in a timeline sensitive environment
• Team player with strong communication and leadership skills
