Role Overview

Reporting to the Chairman & Managing Director with dotted line to Finance Director in Singapore, this pivotal role combines strategic advisory and financial leadership responsibilities within the Lubritrade Group. The incumbent will oversee the organization’s financial planning, strategic direction, governance, investment strategy, and performance management.

You will lead financial due diligence, performance analysis, and M&A initiatives while advising the senior executive team on long-term strategic goals. A key focus will be driving growth, financial sustainability, and legacy preservation while ensuring financial governance and operational efficiency across diverse business units.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Advisory, Strategic Leadership & Execution

- Strategic Advisor to Leadership: Act as a trusted advisor to the Chairman and Managing Director, providing expert insights on corporate governance, financial strategy, and risk management to ensure the group’s long-term sustainability and success.

- Financial Strategy Development (vision level): Partner with the Managing Director to chart out and refine the financial roadmap taking into account of the Chairman vision, develop and execute comprehensive financial strategies that support long-term growth, capital efficiency, and profitability.

- Business Strategy & Execution (business unit): Lead the engagement with the business units to define and execute strategic financial goals, ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives. Provide recommendations on operational improvements and cost efficiency to maximize shareholder value.

- Centralized Finance Operations: Oversee the centralization of financial operations across the group, driving efficiency and consistency in financial reporting and planning.

2. Performance Management, Governance & Control

- Performance management: Lead the development and implementation of a performance management systems, including a balanced scorecard, KRAs and KPIs to ensure operational alignment with business objectives and optimize financial outcomes and ultimately ensuring all business units and support functions are working towards the same goals

- Governance & Risk Management: Partner with the Finance Director to lead the development and implementation of robust internal controls, audit policies and financial governance frameworks that ensures transparency, accountability, and compliance with industry standards and mitigating financial risks across the organisation.

- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Proactively assess and mitigate financial risks across the group, ensuring that financial controls, fraud prevention measures, and compliance protocols are in place

3. Investment Strategy & M&A Support

- Investment Gatekeeper: Serve as the primary gatekeeper for new investment opportunities, leveraging your deep expertise to evaluate risk, providing comprehensive financial analyses, valuation models, and scenario planning to empower informed decision-making at the senior leadership level.

- Investment & Capital Allocation: Proactively scan and advise the Chairman and Managing Director on strategic investment opportunities, capital allocation, and portfolio diversification strategies that align and strengthens the group’s future growth goals. Ensure that investments support long-term profitability and risk management.

- M&A Strategy & Execution: Lead and support M&A initiatives, including due diligence, financial analysis, valuation, and post-merger integration. Ensure that M&A activities are aligned with the group’s long-term strategic objectives and enhance financial performance.

4. Business Succession Planning & Legacy Management

- Succession Planning: Collaborate with the Managing Director, Finance Director and Chairman to design and implement an integrated business succession plans that address leadership transitions, wealth distribution, tax efficiency, and asset transfer—ensuring the smooth continuation of the business across generations.

- Legacy Preservation: Develop strategic frameworks to preserve the group's legacy, ensuring continuity, stability, and success under future leadership.

Experience and Skills Required:

- Educational Qualifications: A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline. Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or equivalent are highly desirable.

- Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in senior financial leadership roles, with a focus on business strategy, financial planning, and governance. Experience in multinational organizations is highly preferred.

- Expertise: Strong experience in developing and executing financial strategies, overseeing corporate governance and financial planning.

- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage diverse finance teams while influencing cross-functional leadership teams.

You will be a part of the Business Finance team, supporting the management through providing timely and accurate financial information and analysis.

You will be trained to understand the insurance business and play a critical role in finance system transformation.

This is a highly visible position where you will need to interact with various business units to understand the variances on the financials and provide support in their decision-making process.

Main Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly management reporting process, work closely with the financial reporting team to ensure process runs smoothly and deliver monthly financial pack to management.
• Prepare analysis on the financials and presentation slides for monthly management meetings and thematic discussions.
• Support the business finance team in preparation of Board and Audit Committee meetings deliverables (e.g. Financial commentaries, discussion papers).

Requirement

To support and lead project financing for the Group’s greenfield projects and brownfield M&A transactions across all sectors and markets which the Group invests in, including power, utilities, renewables, energy, and urban infrastructure in Asia, Middle East, and globally. The position will sit within the Group Investment Management function which reports to the Group CFO, and will play an important role in the Group’s energy transition and transformation agenda.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead and drive the financing of the Group’s greenfield projects and brownfield / M&A investments, in co-ordination with cross-functional and cross-border project teams, as well as external advisors and vendors where necessary.
• End-to-end project execution, including evaluation of project risks, bankability and returns, deal structuring, preparation of investment proposals for senior management approvals, debt market engagement, due diligence, negotiation and documentation, and financial close.
• Develop and manage relationships with debt market players, including commercial lenders, multilaterals and Export Credit Agencies, legal firms, and other advisors and consultants.
• Perform functional reviews of new projects, formulate independent views of key assumptions, risk drivers, and stress-test financial models to assess robustness of bankability and returns.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop the competency of junior team members to strengthen the Group’s in-house project financing, deal structuring and financial modelling capabilities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in project finance / advisory / M&A / infrastructure, with at least 5 years’ experience in leading the execution of project financing transactions.

Skills, Competencies and Preferred Characteristics

• Strong technical skills and competency in project finance, including financial modelling and VBA macros, deal structuring, familiarity with lenders’ credit processes and requirements, due diligence, negotiation and documentation.
• Analytical, highly numerate, detail-oriented, hands-on approach with strong problem solving and project management skills.
• Team player with strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders, as well as co-ordinate across various functional and regional teams.
• Candidates with relevant sector and regional experience, particularly in power, utilities, renewables, and energy with a focus on Asia and the Middle East will be preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Financial Reporting Improve the governance and reporting of financials for compliance.
• Review the financials of the SOCIs (Schools, Offices, Centres and Institutes) monthly to ensure accuracy, completeness, and appropriate presentation.
• Prepare standardised regular financial performance reports in compliance with standards and regulations.
• Evaluate the financial performance with relevant stakeholders to determine any actions to be taken.
• Design effective operational and strategic reports that can be adopted and managed by the SOCIs.
• Provide training to the SOCIs management team (e.g. HODs, Assistant Deans, Budget co-ordinators).
• Planning & Analysis - Act as a business advisor to the Provost, Deans and HODs on financial control of the SOCI by generating financial analysis, insight and recommendations for future planning and alignment to LTFM (Long Term Financial Model).
• Critically assess and facilitate overall SOCI budget & forecast submissions.
• Identify and provide guidance on financial opportunities and risks to the contribution margin.
• Contribute to building business cases for new strategic initiatives and assessing post-implementation results, working with the Offices of Finance, Procurement and Programme Management.
• Communication - Be the first point of contact for the SOCI on all financial matters; and for OFIN on all SOCIs matters.
• Enhance awareness and adherence to financial policies.
• Build strong, effective relationships across SOCIs to ensure their needs are addressed.
• Process Improvement - Continuously evaluate policies and procedures to ensure optimisation
  • Align and streamline processes within and across SOCIs to achieve consistency and efficiency.

• Degree in Accountancy, preferably with CA qualifications.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience.
• Successful track record in Business partnering and Financial planning & analysis (FP&A).
• Experienced in driving process improvements and change management.
• Familiar with SAP usage and data extraction.
• Familiar with BI tools (eg. Qliksense, Power BI, Tableau).
• Strong inter-personal and communication skills.
• Confidence around senior management.
