Economics & Investment Strategy
We manage the Total Portfolio to earn sustainable returns over the long-term, and enable the flexibility to navigate the path over the shorter term.
What impact can you make in this role?
You will articulate GIC’s strategic outlook, determine asset exposures and benchmarks, implement new return streams and investment models, and optimise the risk-reward of the GIC Portfolio.
You will help to characterise the outlook for the global macro investment environment, conduct strategic research, and contribute to the Global Research Network. You will also be given the opportunity to develop medium-term investment strategies for the total portfolio, and help with the management of key top-of-the-house portfolios.
What will you do as a China Economist?
- Provide thought-leadership for the organisation for the China macro outlook
- Formulation of key economic forecasts and coverage of policy developments
- Conduct thematic research into longer-term structural issues pertinent for the GIC portfolio
- Communication of views effectively with stakeholders and working closely with the various investment teams
- Help to manage and refine team’s overall investment framework and develop actionable investment recommendations
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- At least 10 years of investment experience analyzing China macro
- Ability to formulate independent views and investment recommendations.
- Strong analytical abilities, proficient with MS office products and databases, (e.g. Macrobond, CEIC, Bloomberg, Datastream, etc.)
- Ability to connect the dots, with strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills. Able to work collaboratively and foster internal debate.
