Key Responsibilities

1. Utilizes work orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering specifications, parts and wire lists, written and/or verbal instructions to build, repair and/or test electrical, electro-mechanical, vacuum, pneumatic assemblies, subassemblies and components.
2. Performs a wide variety of electro-mechanical assembly operations, troubleshooting and repair. Identifies and corrects errors.

Science Lab Technician act as an support for teachers in schools and ensures a condusive learning environment to students in the schools. They play a crucial role in supporting the educators in various tasks ranging from to subject related matters.

Job Description:

• Maintain general cleanliness and upkeep of the science laboratories.
• Prepare teaching resources (including tools/equipment/materials/apparatus and any learning or training kits) in collaboration with teachers.
• Manage inventory to maintain sufficient stock and procure of new equipment/materials/components when necessary while tracking the budget and resources utilisation in the Science Laboratories.
• Assist in classes, workshops and other events in logistics matters.
• Conduct specific experiments as per HOD’s instructions.
• Assist General Office's operations through providing adminstrative support.
• Any other duties assigned by HOD and school leaders.

This advertisement is for the recruiting position of Science Laboratory Technician.

If successfully selected, you will be seconded to a MOE Primary located in Cedar Avenue.

Contract Period: From 01 Apr 2024 to 31 Dec 2025

Option Period: for a further period of 11 months from 1 Jan 2026 to 30 Nov 2026.

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

• Mondays to Thursdays: 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, inclusive of 1 hour lunch break
• Fridays: 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, inclusive of 1 hour lunch break
• Service is not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays.

The Services required are set out as follows:

1. Science Laboratory

• To support inquiry-based learning for Science.
• To support the smooth operations of two science laboratories with a focus on enabling hands-on learning for science learning.
• To assist teachers in the preparation of materials and apparatus for science practical lessons and assessments.
• To manage, operate, care and maintain the science laboratories and science learning environment (eg., school garden and science corners)
• To source and procure equipment and materials and maintain an inventory list of consumables and keep track of inventory.
• To take responsibility for laboratory safety and may be required to serve as a certified first aider.
• To assist in classes, workshops and other events in logistic support and supervision of safe use of laboratory tools.
• To assist in General Office eg., reception duty, handle telephone calls, attend to students, parents and visitors, update sick bay records, photocopy documents, filing, inventory management and replenishment of stationery etc.
• Any other duties assigned by the School Leaders/Administrative Manager as required by the School.

The Personnel shall minimally have the following qualifications, experience and skills:

• Singapore citizen or Permanent Resident
• NITE Diploma or GCE ‘O’ Level certificate
• Have at least 4 years of similar experience as a lab technician in a primary school
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in MS Office
• Able to handle live specimens, such as insects and chemicals
• Able to handle deadlines
